Reminds of the song that sings Oops I did it again ? Or I’m I just mixing it up with another song ? Lol

ok so yeah I bought another guitar . I proclaimed myself as King of Cheap ! So you will always know if it’s cheap and has to do with acoustics and recording I’m the guy checking it out !
Well I mean only if I’m in need of it err .... want it is more like it .
Anywho .... You know how it goes you see it in a ad or something and it fits in with the normal guitar models your interested in and the price is good some how it just locks into your memory banks .
If you don’t buy it on the spot you will shortly because you can’t stop seeing or researching it . You wake up and the first think that pops up in your head is that guitar so back to surfing you go.
OK what is it ? well ....... I’ll tell ya this time .
It’s the Recording King RO-328 . Why did I get it ? I just want to hear it see how it plays and sounds .
I couldn’t resist it has a aged Adirondack Top ! From their special reserve . Now I’m not sure what that means and I’m not up on Recording Kings history but I’m not aware of them using Adirondack or anything else that claimed special reserve .
So anyway it’s all solid wood Rosewood back and sides . Same for the fingerboard and bridge.
They say it’s designed off the Martin triple OOO but with a few differences.
Scale is 29 and something vrs Martins scale length, a bit different bracing and the rosewood bridge and fingerboard as the Martin has ebony oh the top on the Martin is Sitka vrs the Adirondack on the RK .
I bought from Elderly it was the only one they had . Per my norm I told them go over it well because I’m one picky sob . The top was concern because the stock photos they get or use are not of the actual guitar just the factory generic pics .
The thing is all the pics I seen from different vendors had racing strips. I really did not want that nor did I want a hump on the fretboard extension.
The pics they sent me showed a very nice clean top . The Rosewood looked nice but it was hard to see do to glare from the lights . It was very shiny. 😁
Anyway they said give them a few days to get it all checked out for me . I didn’t actually pay for it yet.
They assure me it will be acceptable . They set it up and did their checks and got back to me the next day . So hats off to them for getting right on it.
Now some time next week it should come in and I will get pics , audio etc out so anyone interested can hear it and know about the quality of workmanship etc .

Any bets on it being a keeper or returner ? 😊

I think the Recording Kings have high bang-for-the-buck factor. About 10 years ago, I bought an RP1-327 (I think that's the model, it's their 0-size, all solid parlor) and loved the neck. The sound was okay, but it had some fit and finish issues so I returned it and got an Eastman E-20P instead. I still have it. I'll bet that RK's are better made now than they were 10 years ago. So, my guess is that you'll keep it. :)

Must be something in the air, as I did it again, too, but on the electric side. While patiently? waiting for a S-70 to fall from the sky into my lap, I ran into this
81 Peavey T-27 limited. 2 year run, and the “limited” is the rosewood fret board. Apparently the first CNC made guitar. The tone knob blends, then splits, the HB. Speed neck. Many different tones out of this baby!

Returner.
This is going by my own experience... I too got really tempted by the "high bang for your buck" description, the guitar looked very nice, but sounded like cardboard.
That said, who knows?... so best of luck to you.

Recording King guitars generally get good reviews in this other Acoustic Guitar forum I read. Mostly if you want the Martin sound. That's not yet ever been the sound profile I want. Everytime I've tried a Martin, the tone just screams " Play Bluegrass! ".

Martin sound with Recording King?.... wow, they must have cleaned their act up!
My RK was light years away from the Martin sound (and back then I owned 3 Martin)

We have a Recording King "dirty thirties", I think it might be 000, it came in two or three sizes and we got the biggest one. All mahogany I think. Got it at the start of guitar lessons to use while my son's blue guitar was on backorder, so fall of 2014. It was just under $200, and I think it is nice sounding. Gets muddy with hard strumming. Fingerpicks nicely.

Good luck with your Recording King. I hope you'll find it to be a keeper.

Recording Kings - If you were lucky they had some very nice acoustics. But they also had some problems with the bridges pulling up. I had two cheap ones I think ROS-06 that were 12 fretters and both bridges pulled up. One was repaired and pulled up again. But they played nice and sounded good.

I knew about RK while a while now but I never kept tabs . In the reviews that popped up they seemed mixed opinions.

RK is not trying to give it a Martin sound I don’t think but just base the build off of them.

My Blueridge are based off of Martin but sound nothing like them at least now . They definitely have there own tone now .
Many luthiers also base there builds off Martins .

Since RK states that there’s changes like scale length and bracing and different use of woods Adi , Rosewood for bridge and finger board though I can’t say how much that changes things but we’ll see .

it will be interesting . Elderly will get a bloody ear full if it sounds like card board . Lol

it seems there’s a lot of places selling guitars that sound fairly good .I guess there must be some easier ways to get better quality guitars from China that anyone can put their name on .
Orange is one that pops in my head . Where did these folks pop up from ?
So the recording king can be one guitar of a thousand others just like it but different name . Lol kind of sad if that’s true . 😐

A few years back, a friend and I went to Nashville and we visited The Station Inn. There was a Bluegrass band playing and I told my friend "You watch, they'll all be playing Martins." Well, I was wrong - nobody was playing a Martin, and the lead flatpicker was playing an old Recording King, he even let me play it.

If anyone could give me a summary of Ray's post, it would be greatly appreciated. I guess he bought a cheap guitar...... Please, the short strokes??
"Scale is 29 and something vrs Martins scale length"
That and the 1-1/2" nut width puts this one off the table for me.
:p
