I think this footage was shot for a never-completed film about mid 1960s British mod culture. The Who would've been managed by a guy named Peter Meaden during this period. He changed their name to The High Numbers, "number" being slang for a mod of average status. If you were a "ticket" you were low status, wearing last week's fashions rather than today's. ☺ A high status mod was a "face." The character in Bell Boy from Quadrophenia (the parts sung by Keith Moon) is a former "ace face." That is, the highest status of all. One of my English cousins explained this stuff to me after Quadrophenia came out and I was trying to make sense of the story. Listen to Sea And Sand…the lyrics are full of mod references.

In the pretty lame you gotta dance song, Pete is playing a Fender amp. This is the sound of Rock before Marshall. It's definitely not the same. Sound City, Marshall, Laney and others turned music on its ear literally, but really Jim Marshall, the drum teacher, he was the one they went to to get the volume. . He did more for Rock than anybody since Leo invented the Strat and Gibson the Les Paul.

Ace Face was Sting, about 19?

High Numbers sounds like stoner band name?

WW from the other day; Same here, the acoustic side of Tommy blew me away (it's a Guild ain't it?) and Who's Next, and then Quadrophenia, some of which I never got quite over, I get like weird teary when I hear it. All that lost innocence, regrets of life didn't turn out like you wanted it to, I dunno what it is.

JR; Crazy video, never seen anything like it. It's the Who doing the Beatles, quite well. Entwistle already stands out as probably the most intersting part of the band, no wonder Pete had to start breaking guitars ;}}} Pete is already windmilling in the 1st tune.

Just really insanely fantastic footage.
