Ya know, I think Aguilera is a great singer and a wonderful performer with so much versatile talent. And I really thought I'd hear her do a traditional rendition of the National Anthem. God knows it would have been a real treat for a change. But because she tried to go so over-board she got "caught up in the moment" and forgot the words? It was awful. Doesn't anyway simply SING the anthem anymore?

Blackeyed Peas?   Absolutely disgusting half-time!!! Exciting? Yeah, if you actually enjoyed the Bowie years of Ziggy Pop!!!

But darn I did enjoy the game. Closer than I thought it would be. Gypsy was pleased to say the least. I had to sit across the room to keep her from beating on me. The couch at my house was a dangerous place to be at times.

You summed up the day quite nicely, Doc.
And as far as all these 'new wave' anthem singers, just sing the song the way it's supposed to be sung, for cryin' out loud. And try really hard to remember the words, OK? Sheesh!

Great game, though, and that's why I was tuned in! :D

With cheer, he moves forward!

I watched most of the game, all the commercials, and ate some good food (and some that wasnt so good) I gotta say Aguilera's rendition of the national anthem was awful, and the black eyes peas sounded like a bunch of gerbils in tron outfits- they were singing 1.5 times as fast and it was quite trippy. the only good part was slash, and he wasnt even there that long.

as for commercials, anyone got a favorite?
I liked the doritos one with the pug dog. Who didnt laugh when the slo-mo pug with the tongue hanging out knocked down the door and ate the guy's doritos?

A half-time show with just Slash would have been very nice!! Fergie (of the Peas) does a great song called "Beautiful Dangerous" on Slash's solo CD. That would have been a great song to do... Slash was gone too soon - I think he was embarassed!

Hey Doc, FYI and FWIW, my good friend Paul's hometown is Mishicot, and he was sporting his Packers hat and a big grin at the board meeting last night!

Joe

Mishicot is about 40 minutes east of me. Home of the beautiful Fox Hills Resort, and convicted murderer Steven Avery. Been to a bunch of weddings at Fox Hills, and crossed paths with Mr. Avery many moons ago.

Everybody's pretty high on the big win. They had a reception for the team today at Lambeau Field. Sold out the place for $5 a seat Monday, today at noon scalpers were getting $200-250. The temperature at showtime was about 5 degrees. Which means the aluminum planks that pass for seating feel like liquid nitrogen. Dressing in layers helps, a pint of Kentucky anti-freeze helps more. I watched from my recliner with a cup of Kona.

Gypsy is from Milwaukee and she thoroughly enjoyed the outcome. And she's a lot more knowledgeable about football than I ever thought of being. I'm glad they won and even though I'm curious on how life would be around here if they hadn't; I'm certainly not anxious to find out.

Have you guys ever seen the Air Force Academy cadet D & B corps? I played in that in 1980. We did a Monday night football game (with Cosell announcing) in mile-high stadium that year and got a standing O from the crowd. That just never happened with pro football fans. So cool! A great moment for me.
