Who is this Ren person whose name I keep stumbling on in various threads? Obviously someone of great stature in the Guild world.

Not just Guild, but in the acoustic guitar build/luthier world. He was the main guy at Gibson too when they were building some incredible acoustics. He also had his own shop before he joined Gibson. When he went to Guild, he introduced the Orpheum...the idea for he most likely got while heading up production at Gibson but Gibson did not really let him do it, but Guild did.

there are others here who will chime in with way more intel on Ren, who actually met him when visiting New Hartford.

That's a picture I took at Winter NAMM 2013, the lady is LTG member Jane holding the just introduced 2013 Orpheum OM which she really liked! (that white John Pearse plastic bag was mine...should have removed it before taking the picture!)
Jane also tested my 2014 12 string Orpheum a year after, I wasn't able to attend NAMM 2014 in person as I had to be in Japan at that time. I bought the NAMM 12 string model after NAMM.
