Beautiful burst on that guitar!

Also, now I want coffee...

That's the DV52 I gave to my son for his college graduation present!

This was an instance that for my D 35, I went with plain white plastic pins. They fit the plain old low budget aesthetic of a D 35. Plain bone would be good too. I revel in the budget look, especially the bearclaw that was in 1970, a very low grade top. Surprised really, that it didn't get painted over.

Now a D 55 would get ultra fancy.

Interesting as I have decided to hold off on getting any pins till I get called in to local shop for a setup. It’s by appointment only now due to covid. Thinking of going just bone. The D35 really needs a setup, as Ray pointed out, some intonation issues and action if high. I want saddle replaced too, and probably needs a neck reset. Again, guitar was free so I knew I was going to put 400 into it eventually. Maybe 500. The tone is worth it.

And I learned that guitar center’s condition ranking system, Good really means Fair/work needed. 😀

I just ordered bone bridge pins from Bob for my 79' G37. Curious about the sound difference, I will keep you posted.

You've got that right Rich, but they fit perfectly in my D25M and DV52.

Nice. Did you expect or get any difference in sound? I love the black dots.

It does seem to sound more crisp. It doesn't seem any less basie, which I'm very happy about.

I have replaced tusq saddle installed on my martin guitar with a high quality bone saddle from macnichol.com so I think replacing bone saddle to a new one (better one) is a much better option as it provide a warmer tone to the guitar with overall increase in loudness.

Yikes, this dude's offering elephant ivory w/o a single mention of ethical sourcing, just a reminder that he's not allowed to ship it out of state.

Interesting point. It may be that his stocks are old and predate the various bans and controls. In state only could be his solution to the hassle factor. If it stays in state he doesn't have to provide documentation with every sale. Selling antiques a couple decades ago we ran into this. The ivory had been harvested at least a century ago (think scrimshaw) but of course we had no easy to provide proof of that. So you buy it in the shop and the documentation you need and we provide is part of the sales process.

Yeah, I get that, but you'd think he'd go out of his way to make that clear -- it's a concern.
