Sandy, that Collings is gorgeous! How does she sound? I have often wanted to play a slope shoulde, especially a 12 fret!

The best candidate is one that has been hanging around the house for a bit and which I am thinking on. - 1964 Gibson B45-12. If you are going to buy a Gibson 12 string this is the version to have with the light bracing and the belly up pin bridge. I can also snag it dirt cheap. But saying cheap and Gibson in the same sentence can mean only one thing - yup, it has some issues. There is a reason you do not see many of these Gibson 12 strings around. The tops had a nasty habit of imploding. And this one is certainly a candidate. So maybe, maybe not. No hurry though. It ain't got any place else to be at the moment.

Thanks Hart. I'll let you know how she sounds when I finally get to unpack the box...

The box arrived unscathed this morning at 9:30AM. Three days transit time from Wichita KS to Long Island; Fedex Ground ROCKS! I have just opened the bottom of the box to let a little more air in at 3PM. I figure I'll wait until 6PM, and I'll take the case out of the box. Then maybe around 9PM or so, I'll open the case.

Yeah, the wait is excruciating...

Put a little port or brandy in a decanter to breathe and meybe they'll be ready at the same time.

Looks real good Sandy... bet that baby can sing. 8)

That's what I'm hoping Pascal. After the failed experiment with the custom, I've been wanting a 12 fret slothead ever since. I hope this os the one. If it's not, I've already got somebody that wants it that lives near me. :D

Thanks John! Hoping for the best, like you always do when you buy one without playing it first...

I need an orchestra (or concert) mahogany/sitka one. Right. Not sure of the brand or model.....perhaps an Martin OM. I've, also, been looking at the Larrivee and Tanglewood parlors.

<----repeating to herself: You don't need another guitar. You don't need another guitar.

 :D

One of the guitars I most regret selling was my Gibson J-185. They just have that something- big enough to have plenty of punch, deep waisted to sit nice on the lap, short scale and a great neck. I wish I had it back but getting another Gibson is such a crap shoot that I never do it. Now- low and behold here comes the Guild Orpheum line and it includes a jumbo short scale that sure looks like it might be a fine replacement for my J-185 while sticking to a much more consistent maker- good ol' Guild.

I like it.

I didn't expect to get a new guitar, but I did some trading and got this Gibson L-00 Pro. Very, very happy with it.

Probably an older F-30 Standard, if I can find one that catches my attention.

In case you haven't seen it; there is a '66 F30 with bearclaw over in the FS/FT section that looks like a pretty awesome guitar! If I didn't already have a 68 I'd be all over this one!!

They look really nice! And judging by the price, Guild is pretty proud of them...

Well they say the Custom shop can do different hardware and color specs now with the Patriarch series upon request, so I wonder how this would fly;

A Black Fire III.

But with nickel hardware, and a master volume with the big dial like the duane eddy not the tiny one from the IV/V/VI.
and sure I'll try out some of those new mini HB-1 buckers, if they stink i'll source some old originals from somewhere.

And not mirror finish shiny piano gloss black. The kind that's JUST transcluent enough to let you see the grain - but not lighten the shade to something grayish.

The split pillar chesterfield headstock inlay is fine.

Would this be too much to ask? It might be too far away from any of their current models to start work on, sadly.

Hate the pickguard (easy to replace with a "real" Guild pickguard), but it's surely GREAT to see a new mahogany jumbo from Guild! 8)

Still building my COLLECTION!!! Have been looking at the Martin HD35s. I like the look of the 3 piece back. But, I already have my D55 Conn. Guild and it plays so awsome, really don't need another Rosewood Drednaught. So am now being tempted by the JF55s!!!

Thanks for the link Memphis,

I have a lead on a couple of used F-30's that may be up for sale locally......
