Love my new Ipod...of course I've got all my favorites from my youth on it, mostly for exercising. iTunes makes it way too easy to surf for new music.

Latest download..

Kind of an alt country vibe...it's growing on me.

What are you folks listening to these days?

Hey Effin, I got that Ray La Montagne CD a couple weeks ago, it's been getting a lot of play.

Others in the hot rotation:

Elton John and Leon Russell The Union. When I first heard of this project last summer I figured it for a home run or a strikeout, it's a homer. Leon sounds better than he has in several years.

John Mellencamp No Better Than This Outstanding, I can't believe this record isn't getting more press.

Mighty Sam McClain Give It Up To Love from 1993, Sam is an exceptional soul singer most folks have never heard of. Check him out:

I've been plugging in to Pandora Internet Radio lately and I'm hearing a lot of great, mostly old, and sometimes new-to-me music on the Bob Dylan and Paul Simon channels.

Headphones maximize the experience.

Leon plays frequently at spots here in the hill country and Austin area. You're right, Doc. He's playing much better and EJ has done a lot to instill a new confidence in him and his music. How do you cover a Leon Russell song? Seen many folks try and many folks fail...

Headphones are good, yes, but by far my best computer audio buy is this;

Klipsch computer speakers....new they're about $150,. Weak point is the DIN plug, wires tend to break, there's a fella on Ebay regularly sells a repair kit for $10.

This girl band sounds pretty good thru the Klipsch. I have a thing for the lead guitar player, then again the redheaded bass player has a certain appeal.

My wife got me Arcade Fire's The Suburbs for Christmas and it's growing on me. But mostly I've been going back in time and listening to the Ramones, the Sex Pistols and The Clash of late. That, and the Youtube videos by our own Bluesypicky and songs posted o Myspace by Danerectal's The Daleks.

Kieran Kane's album Lost John Dean. I heard his cover of Little Walter's "Mellow Down Easy" and I had to find out who that was.

Saw this band when they opened for Rob Thomas a couple of years ago. Very solid indeed. 8)

Stuck in a rut. When I am actually in a position to choose the music I am listening to it always seems to be live tracks from Jefferson Airplane through 1971 or thereabouts.

There are worse ruts. You could be in a stuck elevator with Abba being piped in. All 3 of their big hits in continuous rotation.
For a change up you ought to mix in some of the studio stuff at least. Always loved the vocals on "Pretty as you Feel" for example. :D
I've actually been giving the classical station about equal time to the jazz station lately.
