I need to replace the strings on my new, used Peregrine.
What are the default gauges and does any one have recommendations on what brand to use?
I'm looking for something with a good full bottom end sound.

Thanks,
CT

Hey CT,

I don't know if you're a flatwound guy but here's a few thoughts;

I just put a set of D'Addario EFT15's on my Peregrine, .010, .014, .023, .030, .039, .047. As I've only had this guitar a couple days I'm getting used to the Peregrine's sound as well as the new strings. These EFT's are new to me. They are phosphor bronze but are polished semi-flat. The idea of semi-flat seemed to be a good match for me as I use D'Addario Chromes on my electrics for their tone and quietness.

It seems to me at least that the semi-flat strings are similar to round wound for feel and sound. They do seem to be well balanced across the four wound strings and I like the guage. I'm not familiar with flatwound acoustic strings so I'm sure I need to try a few more types before I find what I'm looking for with the Peregrine, every guitar is different of course so it will take time.

There is a flatwound thread in the acoustic/electric area that has some suggestions that I will probably try in the future.

Enjoy the search!

Thanks Hearth Man!

I got my calipers out today and measured up the strings on my Peregrine, and it matches the gauges you listed. I'll head over to the music shop tomorrow and pick up some D'Addario EFT15's. I usually use D'Addario on my other acoustics as well.
