It is an A-50 archtop, 1972 to be exact.

That one was Grot's then mine now off to New York somewhere.

ha awesome. how did it play/sound?
my friend wants "something new" in regard to acoustics. he doesnt like his ovation much (surprise, surprise  ) so i'm steering him toward Guilds.
is that a good price?

Mellow, those sound great - I had a 1961 A-50 archtop. I put acoustic strings on it and it sounded great, particularly solo runs. Even my X-50 (essentially the same guitar) sounds good unplugged, but not as loud with electric strings. It won't sound as full as a dreadnought with chord strumming, though. Depends what kind of playing your friend does. I think the price is very fair, considering the excellent condition that guitar is in. Graham, I can't believe that did not sell when you had it on the Forum for sale...

well thanks for the info guys. i'll recommend it to him. he's big on fingerpicking and soloing, so it sounds just right for him. especially since he wants "something new and different"
he already has a classical, concert/auditorium style, and that ovation... so this sounds like it would be a good add on
