Afternoon all I hope everyone is well .

yeah the couch guitar . Has anyone ever seen a definition of this ? Al you’d be one of the folks who right up a break down of what a couch guitar is and truly represents . Lol

ok so my couch guitar is my Guild westerly series ( import) OM-120.

She’s all solid Sapele/African Mahogany.

I mentioned her a few times already as to how much I really like the tone of this guitar. Is it the best ? I don’t know I haven’t really played a similar model less Martins um ... something 15 which didn’t catch my ear .

Since my time healing from surgery I actually had 3 couch guitars. But I just put the others away .

This import OM has amazing tone amazing sustain and overtones . Is she perfect no but I cover this in poor-mans review. Lol

anyway I always find myself coming back to guitar . I have plenty of OM choices but the camping guitar is a pleasant guitar to keep coming back to.

It rumbles through the body even more so if I pull it away from my fat belly . Lol

ok enough rambling. What’s your couch guitar and why ?

I alternate between my Tacoma PM-20 and my '80 D25. The PM-20 is small and easy to hold, the D-25 is easy to play. Both are dinged up a bit, so I can be more relaxed picking them up and putting them down.

I raised a '36 Gibson L00 up from the grave. Someone had donated it to a nearby college's new luthier program, probably not knowing it's value. The dummies went at it with sanders and removed the burst and BRW bridge. I had a local guy copy a new one out of a rosewood blank and he expertly installed it. I had already finished off the sand job, and sprayed 5 coats of flat lacquer on plus peghead logo. Snooped around and found 30's correct Klusons, strung up with Dunlop 80/20 13's tuned a step down, D-D, and now I can't put it down. Best 700 bucks I ever spent.

Was my F40, but it got shipped to Elderly for consignment sale. Probably my Epi HR Custom will be the new one.

DeArmond M-55 without amp when my wife is in same room watching tv - Guild X2000 will soon take that place - have to do some settings first - but the sewer line fixing takes my time until end of this week or so.

When alone - all of them get played - except the Schecter Strato - maybe I should let it go.

The D-35, for some reason I been somewhat favoring it over the D-25 as of late. For whatever reason it has a brighter snap than the D-25 despite being close to the same guitar except the D-25 is arched on the back.

I have two concert sized guitars and my Washburn which is more an orchestra sized but only 2.5" thick. Those are more comfortable to play when lounging. But I choose my guitars based on tuning so it depends on what songs I want to play more than comfort.

Sorry chief, in this case, I don't have a definition because, like Bruce:
I'd rather sit up straight and play a big guitar than lay back on the couch and play a small one.
I'd play sitting up straight on my stepstool no matter what kind of guitar it was, because I need to. Gotta play in as close to classical position as possible, for the ergonomics. ;)

The D-35, for some reason I been somewhat favoring it over the D-25 as of late. For whatever reason it has a brighter snap than the D-25 despite being close to the same guitar except the D-25 is arched on the back.
And that my friend is the difference between a flatback and an archback. It took me 8 years to figure that out because the same thing applies between my D25 and my d40, although the D40's got a higher grade top.;)
The archbacks increase volume and sustain and overtone "presence" but that tends to make them sound more "diffuse".
Flatbacks are "cleaner" sounding, more focused.
