I always relate the T-500 to the Duane Eddy model and then the more recent GSR thinline with Franzes.

Anyone know anything about this model?

My guess (at the risk of getting Hans'd or Ralf'd) is that it was meant to be part of the mid-1980s DE-500 batch as the serial number certainly fits in the 1986 DE-500 run. Instead, it was given HB-1s, a laminated stairstep pickguard and T-500 TRC to make it a T-500. The question is why. Did they run out of DeArmonds or Duane Eddy pickguards?

Love the honey-colored top.

@hansmoust this is an interesting evolution of that model... Do you know how it got this way? Is Jeff right? Just curious.

Messaged the seller not long after it had been listed. No response. Hope others have been luckier. SN is '86, but like PK, thought that run only came with Dearmonds. Should be HB1s though given that date. Had been listed earlier in year. Seller said was selling for relative and had had a lot of interest but didn't want to sell until he'd had it valued properly. Yet here it is relisted again for sale price. Hope it's genuine and for sale but can't help being a bit doubtful

Nothing wrong, here was AG100168, only 4 S/N after the above one (and no, they are not from 1974 or the 90's)

We need to wait for Volume II of Hans' book...but I think GGJ has us covered.
