A Facebook friend of Guild Guitars said
Guild, why don't you start making the double-trussed jumbo acoustic basses again.
What is he talking about? I know that some Guild 12 string models had a double truss rod, but I never noticed that as a feature on any of the acoustic basses. Am I missing something or is the "friend" mistaken? My guess is that "jumbo" pretty much refers to a B-50 or B-30 but I am prepared to learn something about how other models are viewed.

Thanks.

Hi Frono: there's a '92 B30 on eBay and its trc doesn't look wide enough to cover a 2nd truss rod.

Ditto my B-50, although I am fearful about taking the TRC off since if I reinstall it wrong I have lost resale value.

I can remember a time when I would have thrown the BS flag at the Facebook Friend because I have never heard of a dual truss rod bass by Guild or anyone else, but in my geezerhood it is much more fun to assume I am the ignorant one and see what other people come up.

Well, like Fender, with Guild one can never say "never", but my experience is that only the 12-strings ever had dual truss rods, and neither the B-50 nor the B-30 did.

... not to mention the loss of self-esteem that would go with it.

And of course when you're sure you know the facts (or at least remember them correctly), Hans'll come along and cheerfully toss out another little nugget of arcana which forces you to reevaluate your world...

So, to put words in your mouth Guild never made an acoustic bass guitar with dual truss rods, correct?

And, as always, even though the man who probably knows more about Guilds than anyone hasn't heard of them doing it, one can't be 100% certain. Like so many other things Guild, it may one day turn up.

Irony is, even if Guild did start making basses again, they wouldn't build them with double truss rods.
