Have stumbled across one of these in a local shop. What can you tell me about this model? What is it based off of? What kind of price range would be appropriate? This one has nice tone and finish, just isn't on my radar in terms of being a popular model.
Thanks to all and have a great week!

Thanks Graham,
Then, maybe I should ask, "What can you tell me about a DV-52?"

Many consider the DV-52s to be the best "bang for your buck" in rosewood dreads... they have a cult following almost as (more?) fanatic as the D-25s. Depending on the year, their trim is sort of in between that of a D-50 and D-55 (dot fret markers, but later years added an abalone rosette). I think the DV-62 added a bit more "trim" (herringbone perfling or binding) than the 52, but I would expect they sound very similar (never heard either, but those that have give them high praise). DV-52s sell anywhere from $800-1200+ on eBay. I would expect a DV-62 to nudge that up just a notch (but not as much as this one's asking: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=310026258686&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=021 ). There are a couple DV-62 owners on the forum, and I expect they'll chime in...

I found my DV 62 hanging on the wall in a local shop two years ago, At that time I knew virtually nothing about Guild guitars. Played it in the shop for about 45 minutes, seemed like the "Real Deal" . NIce rosewood back, not glorious but nice, the top is a very nice silky spruce top, gold Grovers & I liked the understated elegance of the herringbone trim. Negotiated the price a bit, shopkeeper offered it to me for $800 & he'd pay the tax. Seemed to me, a nice value on a US made Rosewood guitar so I dropped the debit card on the counter & took her home.

Turns out it was a good decision, haven't needed the $800 so far & it's a sweet guitar. It needed some tweaking & it cost me another hundred or so to have some frets replaced & the action adjusted. Sweet player, has a full, rich voice, not particularly loud for a Drednaught size guitar, action is low & she doesn't like to be hammered. I've played several new Tacoma built D 55's & haven't found one I'd prefer to my DV 62, not so sure I feel the same way about the Tacoma D40 BJ's.

An exceptionally nice, near mint, DV62 on Ebay sold for $1500 - $1600 not long ago, don't quote me on that price but it was a handsome price, substantially more that I'd figure an average DV62 is worth. Dollar is in the dumper & they don't come up often, so I could be wrong. Had the offer been for mine I would have accepted.

The V in DV 62 indicates vintage design features, scalloped braces under the spruce top I'm told is one of those features.

Here's a link to a thread when I showed up here in March 2006 with my newly purchased Guild Rosewood. There are also quite a few DV52 discussion threads in back posts. Use the search function in the upper right to search for DV52, DV 52, DV52 fan club & you should be able to find some interesting talk.
