Well today I tried to fix my humidity meter thingy . It’s all digital with a touch sensor to light the screen which didn’t work . So my attempt failed . I think it was wire from the sensor but I tried resoldering and it worked as long as didn’t put the unit back together because then it didn’t so ok maybe the chip boards side yaaay I fixed it ! Until I put it together then it didn’t . So grrrrr …. Honestly the wire is so small I’d need a nuclear powered zoom lense to see what the heck the issue was . 😑

So what do you do ? You grab hold that little tiny thin A$$ wire and give it a new reason not to work ! I feel content . 😂🤣

On the other side of things I mentioned my Blueridge 12 string action was to low after getting It back from my luthier . So I ordered a FWI saddle and began sanding on that . I’ve been procrastinating so I put it on today’s list . lol it’s not done maybe tomorrow or Tuesday.

Anyway I know this is a bit long but hey I could have added yesterday’s efforts . lol 😂

So what you all got ?

A quad espresso from Starbucks and reading The Last Train To Paradise. A book about Henry Flagler and his dream of building the Florida East Coast RR from Jacksonville to Miami (1880's). The book is mostly about the Overseas Key West Extension built in the early 1900's. An engineering marvel from the steam shovel era of bridges, trestles, cross ties and iron rails connecting the Florida Keys to the mainland. And then the 1935 Hurricane that took out the middle section of the Overseas RR and killed over 700 residents and workmen (mostly indigent WW-1 veterans). Recommended!

Played a string quartet concert today - Shostakovich's Fifteenth Quartet and his much earlier Two Pieces for String Quartet. It went pretty well, though there are always moments I think I could have done better. About 30 people showed up, and seemed to enjoy it, even though the Fifteenth Quartet is pretty bleak stuff.

Now I'm home and very tired. Also very grateful to play with these people - the second violinist and I have been playing chamber music together for seven years now, the first violinist and cellist are really strong players, and they all stay relaxed when my perfectionism rears its head.

Started with breakfast, a quick look at the news, then some quality time with my turquoise DV-72. After lunch, we headed down to the stable. While Anne rode her horse Minnie in the indoor arena, I took my buddy Dexter (in my avatar) out on the trail for a 4-1/2 mile ride on a (maybe the last) sunny, fall afternoon...

Oh nothing much.
Just the usual lazy Sunday stuff.
Finished building my Time Machine in the morning, and then spent about 45 minutes working out the Unified Field Theory.
After lunch I brought the Thylacene back from extinction, and finished the day by getting the garbage ready for Tuesday pick-up.

It is with some embarrassment that I have to admit I am currently sitting with my foot elevated because yesterday it seems I lost my little temper and during the boilover kicked a stack of buckets. The buckets fared well, my toes less well. 🤪

Fortunately I don't overload very often and these little piggies will be reminding me for a while why pushing the pressure release button is not always a good idea.

But, kicking the buckets did make me feel better, util the piggies began to complain! 🤨

Cynthia,
Sorry to hear you hurt your piggies.
I hope you recover quickly, and are going " whee, whee, whee" all the way home again, real soon.

From which I infer that you play viola?

To the original question, heard Terra Voce, a flute, cello duo, in concert this afternoon. Pretty interesting on several levels including watching the cello tap the instrument (percussion), play notes with both hands - whatever the technique is called - double and maybe even triple stops (chords) and something that might have been "slap cello" although if you told me that's not what was being done I wouldn't argue. Flute was interesting as well but I will always choose "the bass part" over someone playing 16th notes very well in the stratosphere.

You're correct about the viola.

That does sound like an interesting concert! I think I've heard something I'd describe as "slap cello"; not sure if there's another term for it.
