Hey y'all,

I was lucky enough to pick up a 97 Starfire II about 6 months ago. It's in excellent condition, a really flamey blonde and she plays like a dream. I was wondering if anyone can give me some info on the pickups? I've read that they are Seymour Duncans resembling the '59 model. The neck PU seems quite microphonic. When I've got the 3-way PU switch on the neck PU position, I get a loud metalic percussive sound if hit the pickup, I can also hear it if I hit the PU's volume or tone knobs. This doesn't happen with the bridge PU, it is very quiet. On a positive note, this effect doesn't seem to affect the tone as both PU's sound wonderful and I don't typically touch the pickups when I'm playing so there's no issue there however if I hit the PU whith the volume cranked, it tends to want to feedback on a certain frequency that coincides with the purcussive sound. Anyone follow me?

I can't say it enough though, this guitar sounds so good! and the intonation with the rosewood bridge is unbelievably accurate (DR Pure Blues 12-52). any suggestions? does the PU need to be wax potted?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
