So that '73 S-100C I bought came with a weird case. I have no idea who made it or what guitar it would have been designed for. And I don't know how old it is - the lining looks sort of '70's style, but I don't think it's that old. It does have some wear and the latches are pretty rusty, but they all work well. Has a lock but no key:

Anyone seen this before?

More pictures here. (Sorry, they aren't great. Only have my cell phone at the moment as I'm in between digital cameras.)

What's weird about it - the bouts aren't as rounded as a lot of cases, and the headstock end of it is kinda square-shaped. Also, the neck rest seems kinda tall, but I could be imagining it. It does seem like the neck of a guitar in it slants up more than it should. Overall, it doesn't appear to be a bad case - fairly sturdy, arched top - but I really don't need it now and I'm thinking about selling it. I'll probably just put it on CL and let someone make an offer.

Here are some details:

Length: 45 1/4
Upper bout: 13 1/4
Lower bout: 16 3/4
Headstock area width: 7 3/4

At first, I thought it might be for one of these, although I haven't measured mine.

For a Gibson Nighthawk, maybe?

The Night Hawk looks like a candidate. Probably wouldn't have been an OHSC though - no logo.

It's an after market case for a Strat...strat style...guitar...not sure who makes it. Believe it's fairly recent...several similar versions out...

Yep, that's almost an exact match. Strange, I wouldn't have guessed that shape was meant to hold a Strat.

It's not an identical match, and yours seems an older version, probably what the newest is based on...yours seems to be of better quality. It does kind of look more Gibby than Fender...but then, case companies probably used similar designs for similar shaped guitars by various mfrs.

Somebody will probably come along shortly and know exactly what it is.

Yeah, it does seem to be pretty well-constructed: good stitching, nice padding, arched top. The only thing that looks kinda chintzy is the compartment lid, but that's also the part that makes me think it's somewhat newer than one might suspect at first. Are there any manufacturers out there selling "road-worn" cases to go with those awful Fenders?

Anyway, thanks for the help. I put it on CL for $45 OBO. So we'll see what happens.
