We need to talk about the M70 Custom: my impressions here. Who else is playing one? What do you think?

Yes. I've been tied up with a lot of things. I do plan to do that upright but haven't gotten into it yet. One of these days!

Great pic, matsickma! That custom P90 is close to my perfect Guild -- either that or one with Dearmonds. Very nice!

First, congrats, that's an amazing looking guitar in a great color. Being a CS guitar, the fit/finish and playability must be stellar. The DeArmond 2000 reissues (and these have been discussed here and on the Gretsch Pages Forum at length along w/ other DeArmond pu's) are kind of looked upon as "Dynasonic Lights" (Dynasonic being the name used by Gretsch for the DeArmond pu's on Gretsch guitars) as beyond the design/construction differences they are typically lower in output than vintage DeArmond/Dynas. That being said, they are good sounding pu's and many like them. If you want to go with a more classic DeArmond / Dynasonic higher output tone, TV Jones T'Armonds or Duncan Custom Shop Dynas would be drop in replacements. I know the TV's are available with Guild correct white covers if you request them and I would guess the Duncan Custom Shop might be able to do white covers also.

Found this one for sale in Minneapolis - cool guitar but wondering
if the color is more or less as yellow as it looks in the pics.
"Has Frailen noiseless pickups" - seller apparently has the original pickups.

Here we go, page 28 of the year 2000 catalog from GAD's mindbending website!
So the Minneapolis guitar is an M90, not an M70, hence the pickups
and no binding.
And the yellow color must be "Vintage Blonde".

Sorry for the unintentional misidentification / veer, Parker!

Vintage blonde with yellowed lacquer. Rare bird. Score it if you can afford it. Someone'll take it off you, maybe me :)

Correct. And a year 2000 one.
And the final step in year 2000 was the Custom Shop M-95 which also had SD P-90ies but again binding on the top like the M-70!

Oh, that is nice! And it has two volume and two tone knobs, which is also different from the other versions!

And a Gibson stop tail for some reason. Also no scratchplate, it looks like.

A Blues 90 with a slightly different shape, bound fretboard and block inlays! Don’t know if it’s hollow and I’m too lazy to look.
