I found this interesting (to me) shot yesterday as a good example of the surface tension of water.

Notice how the body of the leaf barely dimples the surface of the water while the stem is submerged.

Wow!! That's extraordinary. What impresses me is the you can see that the water is barely dimpled at the edge of the leaf.

Ah the magical properties of water. The surface tension is caused by a beautiful thing called the Hydrogen Bond. Also, water is the only element that gets lighter and floats when frozen, or else life (as we know it) would not exist. H2O baby!!

Yeah, nice photo! Joe, you made me think about my dad who taught me to appreciate the beauty of the simple things in life. Thanks.

He also taught me that you can fish the best holes in the creek by putting your bait on top of a leaf like this, letting it float into the perfect spot with the current, then you give the line a little tug and the worm falls right into the sweet spot! :D
