almost every bad guitar accident i have ever seen was from a stand.
i just use my gigbag as a holder at shows,or lean the guitar strings first on a sofa at home.
i do not use stands,

Thanks for posting this suggestion. That is really a smart idea makes sense. I sometimes when fooling around at the house will put my guitar on the sofa or upholstered chair temporarily and go do something else for a minute or two. I will continue to do that, but will lay or lean the guitar first or face down. Minimizes the risk of the guitar slipping off. Using a well padded gig bag or the hard case to secure the guitar at a gig makes sense as well. If I ever do another gig I will do that. Our last gig was September 2019 then Covid put an end to that. We have a possible one in the works for New Years Eve. Video of one song of our last gig Septemeber 2019. My Guild X500 is going to be just fine. :) :) :)
I will finish the repairs very soon and will post pics and maybe a short video.

I highly recommend this stand.

Thank You HeyMikey

I ordered one of these for my room. Appears to be very stable and it is free ship and returns. The few negative criticism is some of the plastic fittings can break. Couldn't find any real negatives on tipping over. Since I baby all my gear I m not worried about it breaking.
THE REVIEW BELOW WAS DONE IN 2016 AND THE WEBSITE HE LISTS IS WRONG IT SHOULD BE https://www.dnaguitargear.com/hydra

I have their triple stand, which seems to be more stable than the double one, probably because of the tripod legs.

Good luck on getting it repaired, someone can make that look like new I bet.

Sorry to say - but the Hydra has one obvious problem - guitars are hanging quite high - therefore the gravity point is high, too.

More than three legs only help when load is uneven.

Plus that the guitars are hanging from their necks - instead of "sitting" on their bottoms.

In the picture of my post #19 you can see 4 guitars in one stand almost touching the floor - it takes quite a blow to knock tose down.
The othe guitars in background in single guitar stands can be knoked sideways somewhat easily - but even the they will not fall from high position.

Whenever I get the famous "round tuit" - I'll have all my guitars in multistands only.

If you are using or considering a Hercules GS422B DON'T RISK IT!!!!! My 1977 Guild X500 that I have had for over 20 years is now damaged to needing a neck re-set and the neck binding replaced. I am sick to my stomach. I got her out this morning and played through my songs for an upcoming gig. I placed it on the double stand. If you don't have another guitar on the double stand to balance with only one guitar it makes the stand very unstable and top heavy on the side that guitar is hanging on. I was reaching to get a strap on the side of the stand without a guitar barely touched the stand and CRASH KABAAM!!!! My heart sunk as I watched my beautiful X500 crash to the floor. I have a call in to my luthier to have a look the neck is separating from the body and a large chunk of binding on the neck has broken off. The guitar is unplayable at this point. I am just sick about it even repaired it would not ever be the same. The pic of the stand un folded is not mine. I immediately folded it up and have it ready for the garbage next Thursday. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT TO DO WITH THIS GUITAR? REPAIR WITH NECK SET, BINDING FRET WORK MAYBE IS AT LEAST A GRAND. SUGGESTIONS PART IT OUT SELL IT AS IS??YOUR THOUGHTS. PICKUPS ARE ORIGINAL 1977 AND TUNERS ARE ORIGINAL. WAS REWIRED WITH NEW POTS ORIGINAL WIRING HARNESS GONE.
Really sorry hear about this -- kind of makes me sick, too. A 500 is such a beautiful guitar. Condolences.

The height of the hangers on the D&A Hydra are adjustable up and down according to their description. So, like you say the lower the better.

As far as hanging guitars by their necks I have been hanging all my stringed instruments on the wall forever. Never any problem with that. I enjoy just looking at them and admiring their beauty. The other benefit is I will actually pick them out and play each one more often since they are not out of my sight on a daily basis. The 77 Guild X500 hanging lower left second pic

I will report back about this stand and how stable it is with one, two or three guitars. If it is not satisfactory it will get sent back.

The use case of the Hydra for me is to a) temporarily b) hang multiple guitars securely c) in a very confined space.

For that it works great. I don’t have room for a parallel floor based multi-stand or wall hangers.

I generally keep my guitars in their case, unless I’m playing and want to switch back and forth between guitars without having to case / uncase each time.

That is exactly why I wanted the multi hanging stand in the first place, to securely hang multiple guitars safely and temporarily. So, when I am in my room playing I could trade off with two guitars easily instead of having to get up off my lazy @$$ and fetch another guitar. :) Now hopefully, I can do three guitars and use it like you have said, temporarily. Even when I was gigging I would only take two guitars one for a backup just in case, and it stayed in its case on stage.

Hello

I prefer K&M - but most reputable companies make them. Metal is heavier and is more stable than plastic, which is nice if you have to travel and carry often.

I made my own multi-guitar stand about 35 years ago while living in MN - it still serves it's duty here at home.

I was playing aroun US at the time and needed a stand for three guitars - the ones you see here - F50R - F212CSB - F512 - with 6 wingnuts it came apart and was slipped into tubular pouch - assembly in about one minute.
That, sir, is a very clever stand! (y) are there plugs on the ends you affixed w/ allthread for the wing nuts? I wouldn't mind making something like this for my music room. Only thing I'd probably add is clear soft rubber tubing around the metal rods for added padding and decreased ability for guitars to slide into one another if ever dinged by a passer by.

Thanks for compliments. That stand was made of metal tubing + screws so it was easy to take apart for travelling - I used to play around US at universities - I was member of NACA at the time.

Since the amount of guitars has grown in recent years - I've been thinking of doing two stands in fixed configuration - baltic birch ends - and maybe again metal tubes between - but this time with cloth tube around them - old jeans recycled - maybe.

One for jumbo-bodied - one for electrics and baby-Gibson + Guild-Birds

As of the construction details of this one - half-of-present-lifetime ago is too much to remember - but I think there were some ready-to-punch-in thread inserts + allthread ( learned a new word - thx )

OK - I took the top tube off to see what I've done - it might be one of those threaded plugs that you use when installing plugs in stone walls.

Here is picture of one end - the other looks the same. Tube is little less than 3/4 inch outer dia - thread is 3/8 - I have duct tape to keep guitars from touching metal - but should really pull the sewing machine out - cut some strips off old jeans and make cotton tubing.

Totally prefer a stand than hangs the guitar from the neck. I've tried many. If not hung they allow the guitar to just fall over. The OP's stand is a defective design. No leg opposite the guitar in the double model on one side. The triple guitar model of that stand is fine as each guitar has a supporting leg. My favorite single guitar stand is this type:
