Balderdash, you should probably post your own WTB thread. Your interest will probably not be noticed by reviving this old thread, but it's totally up to you. Good luck.
Chazmo,
You’re absolutely correct. I plan to do that. There are three things that are slowing me down on that.
1) A handful of input from Cougar (in another string) has made me step back a bit and do some research on the JF30-12 (I see you have one).
2) Apparently, there is a new forum rule that is meant to prevent LTG from shifting too far into being just a host for a classified sight. A recent change has a minimum participation requirement before you can post in the For Sale section. I’ve been a member for almost 48 hours now and am still working up to that requirement.
3) If my wife sees a stream of emails that show I’m in pursuit of another guitar, it could be fatal. I haven’t yet found the right moment to bring it up and prepare her... THAT’s what you really need to wish me “Good luck“ on...

Even if it needs a neck reset, the price is not bad. Given how long it has been there, you might be able to get it for less.

Good luck!

For that you need a) a couple of good hiding places, and/or b) a supply of “extra empty shipping boxes” in case you want to sell your guitars online, which on face value should be well received.

Luckily (so far) my wife can’t tell one from another and knows I more or less have a blonde one, a cutaway, and a sunburst one.

Luckily also she doesn’t like attics and basements (you know, spiders), which is where I keep my supply of “extra empty shipping boxes” in case I want to sell my guitars online.

So far, a weekly rotation has been working, but it is a bit like playing Russian Roulette. So, do you feel lucky today punk? Do ya? Yes, I enjoy living on the edge of certain death.

I really need to sell something...

Then again, I believe her jewelry collection dwarfs the cost of my guitars. I never ask about that, so...

Let's Talk Guilt:

Got lucky with Nora, and in more ways than one! Got tons of guitars -- way too many -- and never had to resort to subterfuge. Of course, guilt occasionally rears its head.

:) Lucky, indeed, Glenn.

I got unlucky with my ex, but I can honestly say that my penchant for collecting Guilds never really fed the problems between us.

If I reverse the spousal roles, and substitute "shoes" for "guitars", this sounds exactly like the stories several "shoe addicts" have told me. Only they use their offices as the stash.

I remarked on the extraordinary number of shoe boxes under the work area of a woman I know (it looked like the stock room of a high-end shoe store), and she told me she rotates her shoes between home and work so that the number of shoes in her home closet doesn't vary. This was her her coping mechanism after a "No more shoes!" edict from hubby. To her husband they're just "shoes" - he's unable to distinguish between them.

Same with my ex Charlie. In fact, what did us in was her spending (lots of) money that we didn't have!

Mrs. Fro played guitar before we were married. I decided she needed a Guild and got her a D25. My big mistake was taking her to the New Hartford tours, since she fell in love with an F30 after playing one there. (She now has five Guilds) But after the D25 it was easy to talk about another bass. And for whatever reason we tend to discuss larger transactions rather than hide them from each other.

I’ve been lucky with my wife, too. But, I’m going to wait till she starts talking about what she wants in the master bath remodel before I bring up what I want for my next guitar.

You are very lucky. My wife can’t understand why anyone NEEDS more than one guitar let alone God forbid three! They all sound the same anyway. Applying logic such as asking why anyone NEEDS more than one necklace does not help, as you would imagine.

Mrs. Fro. often said I only needed one bass because I could only play one at a time but she realized that was not the point after she encountered the F30.

Two things to consider: the fact that it's there all these months later may say something worrisome about it. The action being high would concern me, for instance, especially on a 12-string.

If you have the option to check it out in person, what better way to assess it? And if you like it, the fact that it's been there since March may work in your favor -- you might be able to talk them down price-wise.

GC isn't always open to haggling -- seems to depend on the manager -- but I've had occasional success. One manager was willing to drop the price; another wasn't but was willing to throw in a hardshell case for a guitar that didn't come with one.

Let us know!
All noted. In person is way better than “ship and hope”.
But, Yonkers is over six hours away...
Sometimes you just let the fish get away, and wonder how big it might have been.

You’re even farther away than I am!

Well, one of the good things about GC is that their shipping is cheap and their policy allows for a trial period and free returns (less the cost of shipping) if you’re not satisfied.

Someone else will know the actual dollars and cents involved, but you CAN check it out for very little money.

Thanks W,
More to chew on.
Each time I saunter through the LTG review section on anything that ends in 12, I feel like maybe I should keep looking - no matter how twitchy my trigger finger is.

I was searching the GC inventory today and ran across the F-512 discussed in this thread. I feel certain it is the same guitar because of the pictures being the same. The guitar is now in Modesto CA. I called the store to get more information. They the guitar had been return after someone purchased it. The person I was speaking to did not know why it was returned. When he went to get it off the rack he could not find it. The store manager said the guitar has been missing for a few days and they would call me when they found it. When I looked later the listing for the guitar had been removed.

Pictures from the GC listing in Modesto CA. Looks like the Yonkers GC F-512 to me.
