By the way, I'm looking for a better name for the 'cake knife' headstock. It might be a good name for the U.S. but I'm not sure if it makes sense for people that live outside the U.S.
No "Cake Knives in Europe, huh?

Nice score, I'd say. Congrats Grot!
Well here it is, all spiffed up!
There's a lot of scratches in the belly cut so it has to have been played quite a bit although the frets are still pretty good! It sure traveled a lot as the case is beat to sh*t!
So, I guess I'll keep looking for one with the "Elongated right triangle with rounded tip" headstock since Hans says they're out there.
Another thing I just noticed is that Guild used a multitude of "offset" headstocks. When I propped it up next to my Aviator this became obvious.
Check out the different offset headstock on my Aviator (S-284);
So now I started looking at my catalogs and I see that Aviators were built with both type of headstocks! Here's one like mine;
And here's two with the "T-250" style headstock;
And to add to that, in the last picture they have an inset of a bound headstock of an S-285 Deluxe Aviator which also had a bound fretboard. How many of those do you suppose they made?
The third "offset" is the "Bladerunner" headstock;
It's similar to the "T-250" shape but a little beefier on the treble side. This shape headstock can be also found, (without the hole) on the later versions of the X-82 Starfighter and X-88 Crue Flying Star. (Sorry forgot to scan those. Check back later for pix!)
(EDIT: Here's the pix.)
The X-82 Starfighter;
The X-88 Crue Flying Star;
Now what do we call the headstock on the Pilot Bass and The S-270 Flyer? I've heard it refered to as the "Foot".
So, If you're all wondering what is taking so long for Hans to issue Volume II, imagine having to wade through all this stuff!
Here's another example. Let's look at the three (that I know of) versions of the FS46-CE!
The most common;
The less common FS46-CE-6 (Hi Jane!);
And the least seen;
(Gotta love the red binding on that one! Wonder if it was made with both headstocks?)
And then there's an FS-48 Deceiver with a hidden humbucker!
Then just when you think you've seen them all, a FS20-CE shows up!
Lastly, did anybody catch the photo of the "Thunderbolt"? Was that what the "Sprint" evovled into?
Man, you acoustic guys have got it easy! :lol: :lol: :lol:
