Hello forum,
I came into this guitar case that was with a used strat I bought. I believe it is a 60s guild solid body case. It’s the same one as in this reverb ad. Does anyone here know what model guild this would have been originally partnered with?
Thanks in advance

I looked at that so hard earlier this week. I almost bought it but I measured both of my S100s and neither would fit length-wise by slightly over an inch. :/ Maybe a Bluesbird might fit? Definitely not an S60/70 or S300 as they're longer than S100s.

My 1963 S-200 is also too long by about an inch. This case also does not match my original case. The S-100 Polaras I think are shorter but my 1964 is at the luthier getting some fretwork completed and I can’t measure. Even if it would fit lengthwise I don’t think this is a Guild case for a 1960’s guitar as my understanding is that the S-50, S-100 and S-200 from the sixties used the same hard case.

A couple S50 cases - and guitars - I had right in a row, both from the same area within an hour of each other listed on eBay by separate people.

'65 I still have actually, almost forgot.

And the '66, the one that got away, she was a chunky monkey that one.

Something unusual both of these case have in common is the padding bar at each end at the ends of the lid.

I'm not even sure Guild used Ess & Ess cases in the 60's. You only see some prints from a Strat style body, which is no wonder it it was used for one recently. I only can think of a S-50 in 1966 or so. Red was 1965 and purple 1966 as far as I remember. But Ess & Ess?

Is that a '60's strap in the case of the first one?

Yes, an Ace deluxe padded black leather, verifiably with the guitar for quite a long time, there are two fairly major "strap burns" in the back in the exact shape of this funky deluxe Ace padded pattern. The seller had taken the strap from the guitar and listed it separate so I had to buy it separate to put it back with the guitar. I didn't know anything about the strap burns at the time, seller's pics weren't good enough to show the claw marks in the top from the maniac who played it for a few minutes, much less detail in the back.

It is also gorgeously checked throughout, and light, and Alder which has some magical tone properties. That was Leo's favorite guitar wood actually, it's more musical.

It's really unique, it's really Guild. Quirky with super build quality.

Guild definitely did use Ess & Ess cases in the '60s*. However, Ess & Ess also made cases for other manufacturers, so I don't think you can say for sure this one was for a Guild.

*I have personally owned two cases (for a '66 Mark VI & '68 F212) w/ both the Guild badge on the outside & Ess & Ess sticker inside. I don't know if Guild *only* used Ess & Ess, but most of the mid-late '60s hardcases I've seen look like Ess & Ess to me.
