So they admitted me to the hospital for further treatment and observation today. My cardioversion earlier this week worked in terms of getting my heart back in rhythm, but my weight continued increasing and my breathing has been more labored requiring more supplemental Oxygen. Hopefully they will be able to get some weight off and improve my breathing so I can go home soon.

But seriously, my diet needs a total makeover again. I've gotten lax about carb restrictions, causing me problems. Also too much restaurant/take-out food which typically has way too much salt.

I really need to do this for my health, and because I'm the chef at our house. I will be reworking my menus accordingly. I've been keeping to my sodium restrictions at home, so all my spices and seasonings are pretty much already salt free.

I really need to avoid processed foods. I love me some tortilla chips and salsa but way high in carbs and salt. Crackers & cheese same thing. And breads are really tough for me to give up. The problem starts when I make an exception, that makes it easier to do again. Hi, my name is Marc and I'm a foodaholic.

I can still eat fresh meats, seafood, eggs and dairy in moderation. But ham, no. Bacon, no. Salami, no. Pickled bologna, no. Pickled herring, no. Breaded shrimp basket; no.

Basically, I need to take control over my and Mrs. Dread's food consumption again. She doesn't mind that I do all the cooking and she will be supportive of the disciplines involved.

I'm going to shoot for filling up more on veggies than anything else; we both love vegetables and the recipes are endless. Our local Farmer's Market is open now, I also want to do a bunch of canning, I have all the equipment. Just because I can't eat the chips doesn't mean I can't have my salsa!
