Well I got a call today asking us to play Rock 'N Roll classics for an annual picnic in August that was not held last summer due to Covid. It's a good size deal, there are usually about 300 people in attendance. We'll get paid and get treated to a BBQ spare rib dinner. The guy that caters grills the ribs onsite for all those people, so they are fresh and hot. Just like the music, fresh and hot! LOL

Sounds great!

But 300 people would make me nervous - be careful, dread!

It's a personal thing, of course. I'm skipping the currently planned in person Commencement at my college. 500 -600 people from who knows where. I'm not going to be ready for that in a month.

Thanks walrus! We've done this gig for several years, so we're pretty laid-back about it. It's me and another guitar player, a bass player, and a drummer. The guitar and bass players bring all the sound equipment, all I need to do is plug in, play and sing.

It's a client appreciation picnic for a retirement financial services company, so the average age of the people attending are about like us - 60's and 70's, so our classic rock set list is right in the pocket.

Given the way the vaccines have been rolled out a crowd of older people might actually be safer, from a Covid standpoint.

Good for you! Sounds like a really fun gig, can’t turn that down! By August, things should be closer to normal.
I’ve got a winery gig scheduled for June, but everyone in the band has had shots. It will be very strange playing out again!

I agree - our college had 12 new cases last week on campus, which is a lot given that not many students are actually on campus. It's not the vaccine but stupidity - some went to FL, etc. for Spring Break..
