This has probably been addressed before, but will the TV Jones pups go into an X-170 without any routing?

If you order the Englsih mounts they should drop right in to the humbucker slots.

Has anyone done this installation? Do the existing mounting ring holes line up with the TV Jones English mount? In other words, do any new holes have to be drilled in the guitar for mounting screws?

I went the EM2 route on a project and the holes did not line up. Very close, though, and the rings covered the old holes. That would also be the case if you were to reinstall the original rings.

The EM2 is with the Gretsch-style rings, right? I wonder about the hole alignment on the Gibson-style EM1. Perhaps a call or email to TV Jones is in order...

Which TV Jones pickups did you use? Were you pleased with the pickups' tone in the X-170?

I put a classic plus in the bridge of my X170, which gives me more twang than the stock bridge pickup, whilst balancing nicely with the guild neck 'bucker. I used the pickup ring (humbucker mount) provided by TV Jones and it looks great. I had a buddy do the install - but I don't think that he had to drill new holes in the guitar. With the gold bigsby and the space control bridge the guild now is great for rockabilly and twangy music, as well as rock, funk, blues and jazz. Good Luck. :)
