Tuners turn in reverse

On my ‘67 Starfire bass, the tuners turn in reverse (counter clockwise for tightening and clockwise for loosening). They appear to be original and installed correctly. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this? Thanks.

All Kluson bass tuners from that period work that way!

Actually I believe the "reverse" tuners are technically "traditional" in the sense that they function the same way that upright bass tuners traditionally always have

My '76 Rickenbacker 4001 is like that. 2+2 tuners mess me up anyway, I spent the first 20 years of my bass playing life playing 4-in-line Fenders. So there's only a 50% chance I'll go in the right direction, especially on the D & G strings.

By contrast it is the 4 on a side Pilot that goofs me up. But there was the time I wound the strings the wrong way on one of my 2x2s...

Both of my Fenders, a '52 and '63, have reverse tuners.
