I just watched 'The mystery of the dying swans'...and what a heartbreak we are creating with the use of lead shot and lead in fishing products for that matter....New ammo is more expensive but also non toxic....and we feed from the same food chain....its just such a drag.....just don't know what to say except...try to do your part to create some change here....Steffan

Yeah, get the lead out. It's being eliminated from electronics too.

We (North Cascades Audubon Society) worked with Fish and Wildlife and the Trumpeter Swan Society through the wintering period for almost 10 years, monitoring the foraging sites for swans in the north county to narrow it down to this one lake as the primary source of lead ingestion by these magnificent birds.

It was pretty awful business to watch these birds die and/or hike across snowy/muddy winter fields to retrieve carcasses. :(
