It's been a while since I've posted here, but still loving my Bob Marley acoustic! It's always been in my mind to get a Guild electric since I've always loved the look and sound of them. There have been different models I've seen over time in photos (Buddy Guy's Starfire, Muddy Waters' T-Bird, etc.) and one in person (one belonging to Bill Haley in my local Hard Rock Cafe here in Philly!)

Seeing Haley's in person most recently reignited my interest in getting something electric by Guild. The past couple weeks, I was looking at what to get myself when I get my Holiday bonus from work (I'll sometimes get it a little earlier and then pay it off when the bonus comes in.) It's something I do to kind of treat myself and celebrate for a job well done!

This year, after some careful thought, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on my treat present: a Guild Starfire I DC in Cherry Red! Just ordered today and should be here middle of next week! I really can't wait!

Since I'm working out guitars to thin out (the cheaper ones I would keep around as knockaround guitars are ones I can donate to thrift stores or schools near here for music programs since I don't abuse any of my guitars), I wanted to work on having a core group of guitars to keep with me now. This has always been in my plan, having a Guild electric.

As of next week, the dream will come true! It's exciting!

when I get my Holiday bonus from work
Let's hope its not the Jelly of the Month Club.
Nice that you are donating some of your older axes to youth programs. I do the same and its hugely satisfying. I also sometimes buy abused cheap guitars and fix them up to donate. Somebody gets a guitar and I get to learn some Mickey Mouse repair techniques.

Hey! That's the gift that keeps on giving, the whole year!

Yeah, with some of the guitars I have that are the cheaper ones I accumulate over the year, don't really end up playing them and I'll make sure they're all set to go for someone who wants to learn and enjoy the instrument.

I love knowing that a school will have them (who sorely needs them) and they'll be played far more than I ever could. It's passing the gift of music on to more people in one go.

Well said. I even gave up my trumpet from high school band - 1971 - it was time!
