No one is so blind as those who refuse to see.

Serial maps to 1973. Every other physical characteristic is consistent with 1973. "First generation" claim is bogus, unless a generation is 2+ years.

PUs sure look like Guild humbuckers. Given that they were the stock PU from the time, it is up to the seller to prove that the bass has something different. I suspect he will have a very difficult time doing so. Impossible, I'd venture.

I note the waffle words "I think" and "so I've been told". Classic phrases to avoid the consequences of mis-describing an item.

Oh yea, my JS II is older, in better cosmetic shape and has an OHSC and I would be quite pleased to net $1,000 if it were for sale so I am inclined to believe the seller is delusional in several areas.

Since he calls it a Jet Star and not a JS I wonder if he doesn't realize that the Jet Star name is more closely associated with Guild's earlier solid body bass and was confusing them when he set his price?

Too distracted to find the thread but Hans and Grot did find and exhibit Guild catalog material that called the double cutaway solid body usually known as the JS a "Jet Star" circa 1970. So we can't be too self-righteously indignant (as I used to get) if someone calls a JS a Jet Star. Regardless, glad to see the record straight.

i do recall that as well but i was thinking more in the interest of general price/value differences with "JS" amd "jetstar" basses. trying to help others avoid the commonly corresponding confusion -- how's that for consonance ;)
