...later today, I'll have an answer to that question. If it's the amp side, I'll take it to someone.
With baited breath await we word that the davisman is no longer... Ampless in Vegas!

(If it wasn't a word before, it sure is now.)

I paused to realize there could be widespread amplessness throughout the Earth, and here I sit, unaware! The ampless deserve a voice! But therein lies the dilemma: How then can they be be heard, for they have no power? If only we knew, resources could be mobilized. GAD may be able to help in such a crisis. Of course, there would be shipping considerations and, if this crisis is so widespread, it would quickly deplete even GAD's vast supplies.

Please tell you are okay, Tom, as this could quickly get out of control...

No, it won't spread. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

And what happens in Pintos stays in Pintos, but that's a different story.

Okay, here's the dealy-0. Tried the new/old power cable, quiet at first and then started howling and feeding back, but different than the power crackle noise it made yesterday. So even with the volume on the microphone (which is the only thing plugged in right now) low it makes that howling/feeding back noise, so I just turn it off. So then I tried it again with the old power cable, and it started again so I unplugged the microphone cable and it stopped. Quiet as a mouse. So I guess it's something with the microphone cable? I hope this doesn't get super complicated. Remember this is the little amp that I run to sing (play sometimes) that goes in the master bedroom bathroom facing out towards the living room. Otherwise, in the same room it feeds back. So I'll do some more testing later, but now I've gotta go do stuff and I don't have time to lug all this stuff around and try a different location or whatever. But I'm keeping this new power cord because it doesn't make the crackle power sound and the light stays lit. So I guess that's a good thing. The saga continues....

Tom, why not just go cordless? Problem solved.

For those who have more money than sense, there are other power cable options. Google for "audiophile power cords." Or read this.

I had many discussions with them "audiophiles" - remember, that I've been working at Studer-ReVox and built first 24-track recording studio in Finland way back - so I have some itty bitty insight of what's going on in recording process 😏

Mixing boards and outboard gear are stuffed with them outrageous operational amps that derive the sound of any hifi-unit. And lord almighty what cables are spread all over recording studios - they're so long ( in order to reach to the microphone . . .) and not at all hifi-grade.

And there's more 😂

Do the listen? Do they fathom? Do they even have a chance? 😏

Oh and just so y'all know, this location is nothing new. It's tried and true and no feedback for years. So I'm doing this testing and power stuff in the same position it's always in. Could the mic cable be responsible for the feedback? Later I'll untangle the cable and try it again. Christopher's suggestion to try a different house crossed my mind. I mean, in 4 years our property has doubled in price here in Las Vegas. But then once I sell it, where do I go? I like it here..... damn!!

This is getting a bit confusing - rattle - feedback - cracking.

I have some suggestions, but before I start with them - I hit the hay - have breakfast - walk the dog - visit my mother-in-law - after that I see where you are - and if necessary, write something.

Good night - 23 46 monday feb 7

Tom, I think you need to do some trouble isolation, or are you having multiple issues?

I think so. But now I'm home I'm not in the mood. So maybe tomorrow when I'm ... not so tired. Honestly, I thought there was a power issue only! And I knew it was the power cord or plug. And then when I put the new plug in and that problem left, suddenly there's all this feedback shit from the mic..... but I'm too tired and halfway drunk to worry tonight. I just sang extra loud tonight. Tomorrow I'll do some diagnostic sh*t and .... I'll get back wit cha!! Stay tuned.....

One of Murphy's unwritten rules;

The instant you need something that you know you have, you draw a total blank as to where it is.

Sometimes it's easier just to buy another.

How many of you sold something - a small part - you couldn't find and had to refund someone?

How many times?

Did you ever find the item/s later?
