The microphone itself could be bad...happens...do you have another one to try with the amp?

Make sure you get a cord with the same rating. The cord you get needs to be able to handle 350 or more watts. More is always better as there is less I^2*R losses

If it's quiet with no input from the mic, try plugging the guitar in and see if it stays quiet.

Next, make sure there is no phantom power switch that could have got moved. I don't know anything about the amp, so I'm guessing. Some mics need phantom power and some do not.

Make sure the mic is in the mic input and not the guitar input.

The more alcohol that is involved, the more basic questions I will need to ask.

Now - hopefully - things have calmed down - and we can start from basics.

- turn the am ON w nothing connected - turn the volume up and tweak other knobs - if nothing but some slight rustling is heard - proceed.
- turn volume down - connect a guitar w cord - both known to be good - check things - any issues? - if NO - proceed.
- pull off the guitar cable and connect a known good mic w kg cable ( not KiloGram - but Known Good ) - start w low volume - check all controls - tone - echo etc - if all good - just go and play music for rest of the day, if possible.

If any of these steps showed negative - please specify 😏

Yours truly - Dr-Long-Distance

OKAY!! Fun night!! I got ready to have my dreams dashed. But no!! So I untangled the microphone cord and put the new (computer power) cord into the amp. Then I closed the door to the amp.... so no feedback from the mic. So powered on.... no trouble. (This is a Shure-SM58) Turned the volume up. No trouble. Then plugged the mic in (it's a dedicated mic plug see below) not a regular cable like a guitar cable. So then I turned things up. And then it was good. And then I sang like there was no tomorrow!! And not one person died and no one had to turn in their gay card or anything. So apparently it was the power cord. Apparently intoxication can mess up your groove sometimes. Or maybe always. But it's fun at the time. So thanks y'all. I feel free!!! You folks are the BEST!! Next up..... "getting to potato salad without tripping through all the effing cables.... "

It was okay. I'm not dead yet.

Oh God, I spit out my lunch! Too funny! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I think you should use the mic and amp for a stand-up routine!
