Had some slight lifting of the bridge on my '99 D 55 and decided to take it in to have it evaluated. Ended up having it removed & reglued.
Kudos to Chris Sisson at Restoration Guitar in Cincinnati's Northside neighborhood for a flawless repair, along with dressing the nut and checking the set-up. Turn around time was excellent!
It's playing better than ever and intonates beautifully up the neck: http://www.restorationguitar.com/
Took this picture last week when I got it home; the day after we had a huge old maple trunk felled for removal.

You gonna try to harvest any of that wood? 🤠
Al,
Took about 3 cords of wood for the stove from the branches we had topped off it two years back. Back then, the red-bellied woodpeckers had been tearing it up every spring and leaving nest cavities in limbs that were as big as trees themselves (some of those limbs were well over 2 feet in diameter). The abandoned nest cavities would weaken the limbs as the birds were constantly ”drilling” out new ones after abandoning the old ones. Got to the point where we were afraid one of the weakened limbs would fall on a neighbor’s ( or our) roof.
Still have plenty of the wood left from last cutting, and at 72, I had no desire to mess with trunk rounds of that diameter ( quartering them, splitting, etc.), so I had it all hauled off. As far as woodworking value, it was a silver maple - not really one of the desirable maple species. Now, had it been some nicely figured hard maple - that would have been a different story!

Oh. Wow. The ultimate guitar.

And, hey, Cincinnati guy! I went to North Avondale School in the fifties and sixties. We moved east in '64, and I always missed the place. So about two years ago, when I saw an ad for a dobro I wanted — Cincinnati, local pickup only — I rented a car and went.

Had a great time. Found my best first-grade friend, a retired reporter, and he took me all around. One highlight: visiting Mike's Music near UC. Played a D-55 while I was there. Drool City, USA.

Biggest (and most alarming change): all the Interstates chopping up the town. Got the hang of Reading Road, but it took a few days.

Hope to have another excuse to go back some day.
