....and spent the day playing all of these: http://www.vintagemartin.com/120910HowEmerson_014.JPG

Famed photographer & collector, Robert Corwin, invited me to spend the day playing a few nice guitars, to put it lightly!

Anyone who enjoys vintage instruments and great photography should visit his website at vintagemartin.com

Do you recognize any of the guitars I'm surrounded by?

Enjoy!

Beautiful image Howard. I'd be smiling too. Did they have any Guilds :?:

I don't believe that Robert owns any Guilds.

If he's focussing on prewar guitars, we're a bit late to THAT party, and it looks like, from his site, that he's most interested on early Martins, which are pre(different) war.

Aside from the impressive collection, I'm impressed that you have a 1927 L5!

That is a fantastic photo Howard! You're in some mighty good company there too.
Wow! Very impressed.
That first one on the left...Is that a 'very' early Gibson? Beautiful.
And, I think that L-5 would get Mother Maybelle 'scratching' allright!

That is an Orville Gibson, and it is from 1898. Rare indeed.

I played in Sidney back in 1976, actually. Great venue, amazing architecture, but horrible acoustics for a rock band: The Sidney Opera House.

Well that's what my mom called me, and I suppose Billy always did because his first bass player was Howie Blauvelt........

I enjoyed my time with Eric Andersen much more, though. I got to play fingerstyle guitar and Dobro in quiet settings.

I have shipped quite a few CD's to Australia over the years...........

Thanks.

Sorry Howard, Just remembering the fan-zines of the times. Thats what they said, and in my mind it stuck.
I can relate though, When I return to my old neighborhood, some folks ( my Mom and sister included) would still call me "Johnny"..my wife and daughter say...."that's just not you'. So true.
I'm very interested to hear where your musical journey has taken you. The little bit I've seen looks and sounds really great. Much more intimate and emotive. So yes, I'll be contacting you regarding another shipment to Australia.
Cheers,and Thanks,
John
