Tone control on 79 Starfire 4

Hi Guys,

The sound from the bridge pickup is quite extreme treble and rolling the tone doesn't have much effect, certainly compared to my other Guilds. I'm wondering if this is common to Starfires of this vintage and whether there is a simple mod to make the tone control more effective.

I don't think so. I have a '79 starfire 4D, and it doesn't do that. However, the D means mine has Dimarzio pups, so I guess there's a chance that ours aren't the same electronically.

I would try some control cleaner first to be sure you don't just have a "clogged" pot. If that's not the case you may just check the capacitor for a loose connection.
