Does 3300 pF on the suck switch and .047uF on the tone pots for a '71 JS bass help?

That looks good! Lucky enough I have plenty of those Mullard caps so that would be a good try.. Thanks a lot.

Any more pics of vintage Guild guts out there? I am very curious what type there are in the Hollowbodies also.

This is the thread that inspired me to photograph my JS II. There's a refinished S-100's guts and another JS II pictured there.

I'd love to know how to safely look inside and/or photograph the guts of a Starfire. Everything I can think of involves dental mirrors, fiber optics and the f holes and that's a bit more than I can handle 8)

I was hoping perhaps someone did during a repair job... off course otherwise it is kind of tricky. I have changed the complete wiring harness of a Gretsch 6120 and that took me hours. I'll check out those links, thanks

the brand on my 1970 caps is Holland. the same yellow barrel-style as on the js-2 pictured above. Couldn't tell you much about anything before then.

Hey, All

My '65 CE-100 had ceramic discs.

Even tho I don't get real freaky about cap types on guitar tone circuits, I did change mine over to the orange drop polyester films (225P series) when I changed the worn-out pots.

2 reasons why the cap tends to have a minimal effect on signal quality in a guitar when used as a passive tone pot:
-- tone cap in a guitar used to shunt frequncies to ground and not for coupling
-- most folks play with the tone control at 10, so the cap is essentially out of the circuit

Now -- inter-stage coupling and cathode bypass caps in an amplifier is another story...
