Oh, hey fellas! Man I went by that pawn shop yesterday and guess what I forgot to do... I didn't take one single dabblasted photo of that flarghen gitfiddle.
But... When I walked in I was like, "Yall still got that Guild acoustic?"
The dude was like, "You mean that FAKE Guild? That aint no Guild. I don't know what it is, but it damn sure aint no Guild".
Then I asked why they didn't say something the other day while I was looking at it, and then I remembered that some other customers had come in while we were talking and they turned their attention to the new customers. And that was the whole reason I picked up the guitar to begin with. Just to kill time between conversations. They had no idea I was looking at it.
But I was relieved to know that they knew that it wasn't a real Guild, and more relieved to know that they weren't trying to pass it off as one.
But during my Saturday afternoon of Pawn Shop escapades, I found more questions that I'm sure can be answered by probably every dang one of you.
And for those questions, I shall start a different thread.
Thanks for all your replies. It's nice to know that even though I am a total stranger, you still have my back.
That is pretty classy.

Welcome, Anubis . . . may I ask how someone from Texas happened to choose an Egyptian deity as their screen name?
Well sir, It was a dark and stormy night. Or it could have been a sun shiny stormy night. I don't know. It was a long time ago.
But when I moved up to Dallas in '89-'90, I met this dude who played guitar and was into the same music I was into. So we started jamming together and became very good friends. Jammed together for over 25 years. And the girlfriends we had always got along with each other, so there was never not a reason to hang out and jam. Well except for that whole "death" incident. Death will surly put a damper on the whole idea of "Hanging out and jamming".
But anyhoo... When we first started out, he immediately referred to me as Curtakis Anubis. Because my first name is Curt, and I guess that just wasn't enough syllables for him. But the name stuck.
Thanks for asking.
And while we're on the topic of making music with good friends, I suggest that the next time you do, don't forget to remember how great you sound together.

Great story, and I'm also sorry to hear that you lost someone who sounds like a very fine friend.

I recognized your avatar immediately, and then noticed your screen name. I saw many statues & other images of Anubis while working in Egypt a long time ago.

Ditto the other folks, Anubis... Hey, keep us posted on your continued Guild hunt. And, as always, keep your eye on the FS/FT section here as well as the pawn shops. :)
