For a long time now, I have thought about getting a nice white S-100 Polara reissue. It looks so classy in white. I can buy one straight from Cordoba. Not sure what my price would be, but it would sure beat any online retailer. I'm not sure of their availability right now, but I can find out in a phone call or email.

I know the Polara is a popular guitar here. I have a nice SG Special that I play a lot, but that has P90s. Similar structural features, of course, but enough differences to make owning both not redundant.

Normally I wouldn't ask, as I always encourage people to make their own decisions, but...I'm trying to make an educated decision.

Please feel free to tell me what you like (or dislike about the reissue S-100. Thanks.

I never liked the clean tone of my 3 SG guitars. They are all gone now.
I was thinking of getting an S-100 for my next hog/rosewood guitar.
Or, an S-300 would be cool too!

Mind that you compared the SPG (Sound Professional Guitar Co., Ltd) Korea made one (KSG serial number prefix), now they are made at WMI (World Musical Instrument Co., Ltd.) in Korea (KWM serial number prefix). Visible differences are for instance that WMI mounts the lid over the pot chamber with 6 screws on the S-100 model vs. previously with 4 screws on the former SPG versions.

I have not heard anyone complaining that SPG and WMI made guitars are different, so I guess the built quality is similar.

Just FYI, S-100's are out of stock and not expected into Cordoba's facility until sometime in mid to late December, and prices will be going up, I am told.

I saw that also big dealers like Sweetwater have no inventory anymore:

This one is on Reverb:

Found a great deal for ya! White Polara S-100

That is a great deal. Thank you!

PS: I called Music Go Round and tried to negotiate the price. They wouldn't budge on it so I passed. My price from Cordoba is just slightly higher, so I'll probably just order one from them when they come in late this year. I appreciate the thought.

I have played a reissue S-100 and I think they are fantastic for the money. In the past, I owned a Dearmond S-73, a really nice guitar, comparable to the Newark St. stuff. Personally, I was holding out, saving money for a 90's S-100 reissue, but I couldn't resist buying the '74 I just scored!

I can’t speak to the reissues, but as someone who owns both an S-100 and an SG, I can attest they are quite different, even though the look similar.
I have a thread where I posted a video comparing the two, in case this is of interest to you. Cheers!

I came across the video of you playing your S-100 and comparing it to your SG, great video! That Guild sounds mean!

Thank you very much! I love the S-100. I got offered a gig in a 90’s cover band recently and I’m learning some songs for it, though it’s not my preferred style. It’s a perfect excuse to use my S-100 and Marshall, whereas my regular band I play Strats and Teles into a Deluxe Reverb. The bridge pickup on the S-100 is a bit microphonic, and so I need to use less gain, but it sounds so good and so lively, that I’m more than happy to adapt. The microphonic pickup is wonderful when playing classic rock stuff, as you can hear all the little inflections, but it can be problematic with more drive. Oh well, the guitar is good enough to warrant working around it…
