I've got a newer NYC one. I find the gain on them to be, well mine at least, on the creamy side. Mine seems to sound better being pushed by single coils. What are your experiences with your russian version? I've heard they are better for going after the doom sound, as their sustain is more on the crunchy side.
I feel like the Green one is a much more colorful fuzz. There isn't a light overdrive sound to it as one could dial on an NYC. It's a lot bassier and much more modern sounding. Nearly industrial fuzz. For my style of fuzz it's just too hot up front. I like to sprinkle the fuzz into an already overdriven tone, and there's no sprinkle mode on the Russian version I have (bubbly text). I could see them being usefull for really sludged out sounds, especially in a lower tuning range.
