I guess they are making some sort of Netflix animation of this book. I just finished reading it. Great read but sobering. I really don't think most Americans have any idea of the reality of WW2.

Thanks for posting FNG. My Dad was part of the invasion of Normandy and his unit helped liberate just one of the hundreds of Nazi death camps.

I will have to read this book.

Sounds interesting, thx for heads up. The way history can be remade, I'm scared for new versions but the known versions are fairly well known, some other post war bits coming to light later. You could read 20 books on WWII and I have them and more, and still never know it all.

It's probably too political to talk about Nazis now since old ideas die hard, but my family lost a lot in that war that can never be replaced, will never be replaced. 85 million died, 85% allied casualties.

That's the reality people waving loser flags don't seem to have any idea of.

We already fought this war. Human amnesia is here, all around us.

I think it's 70% of Americans now don't know doodly squat about WWII or the Holocaust, which I suppose I have to bring up, with a shocking percent of Americans who think "it never happened" but that "it could happen again".

Any other bigtime WWII buffs in here, people who collect helmets, medals, field gear, etc?

Personally my interest is I've been obsessed with WWII since old enough to read, but went on to trace the steps back to Charlemagne and further.

History is all around us whether we know it or not, and "bound to repeat itself" ye hear tell by wiser men.

Damn, that Elite is nice.

Looks like Guild blew everybody away in the shredder guitar world, that's just about the finest Superstrat made by anyone ever.

My wife and I watched the Netflix series "The Liberator". It was a fascinating story of WW II. It was very well written and produced. It took a little bit of time for this old brain to adjust to the animation of the series. The animation reminded me of the animation in the movie "Tron" back in 1982.

Hey dread,

If you're really interested, Rick Atkinson's trilogy is a must read. I've read book one and three, not sure why I skipped the middle one. After reading the Liberator, I need to read it.

I'm a serious WWII buff - that was an amazing time in history.
That book sounds like a good read, thanks for the tip!

Is this set neck? I was thinking about guitars with the "slipper" headstock. I seem to remember having at least one set necked slipper. Maybe a Bluesbird or two? My memory is shot, unfortunately. My GX is a bolt slipper. I think there were a few S series that had the dlipper, and some with the pointy.

Yes it is a set neck. If you read the review that GAD posted you can learn all about it. Around these parts we tend to refer to this headstock as the "Cake Knife" since it looks a lot like one.

(Although I understand it's possibly an American thing.)

I'm surprised no one has pointed out that that guitar is a Liberator Elite.

This is a Liberator:
