Just curious MT. . . do you happen to one of these?

Yep. First UK turquoise pressing. Got one in the 80’s for $60. Today they go upwards of $1500 for a VG+/NM copy. Mine is ok. Record is fine, jacket has wear.

Beware…lots of fakes out there. 😉

Nice! Back when I collected records, this was always on my radar, along with the butcher cover Beatles "Yesterday and Today," as well as a host of Pink Floyd rarities.

Of course, I'm certain as an avid Zep fan that you've acquired some of the other anomalous pressings of each of their LPs. It seems that mistakes were made in the pressing of each album, and subsequent corrected versions were released. Again, very cool that you have a copy of the rarest of them all!

A good example, maybe the best, cut right to the chase, their swansong quite possibly, Stairway to Heaven.

You either love it or hate it, you don't get tired of it.

I've heard it a million times, and have come to the decision that it's one of the finest compositions rock music anywhere, from any time period.

And that's after "hearing it too many times" as many people point out, like Hotel California, yes, you did hear it "too many times" and that part of the charm, and just how good it is that is can actually get better and better as time goes on, you change and become even more appreciative. You 'hear it again one day" after a long break, with fresh ears and you're blown away, even more than before. Like a watching a movie again and noticing details you missed before.

I like a lot of music more as time goes on, It's a comparison thing. I'm stuck in the past. Bands I didn't like much at one time like Stooges, Dead Kennedys, The Clash, Green Day etc all sound fabulous to me know.

So, "good" music is not only timeless, it only gets better with time.

that was a great version. I mean till the horns came in.
But wow, what great drummer and solid electric guitar player. Good vocal too.

Neal's playing sounds so odd in led Zepplin song. lol.
I've always detested all the award show big finale jams where everybody gets on stage and butchers a classic tune....or some standard. They never seem to work. Too many cooks in the kitchen. You wind up w/ a pot of chili that has cinnamon, rosemary, tarragon, coriander, and capers in it!! 🤮

In the wake of Hendrix's tsunami on the British rock scene, did Jimmy Page cope the best?

Can you imagine living at a time in a place where Page, Beck, Clapton all came from the same tiny burg?

I'd never heard that cut.

It's wild how well it holds up to todays "standards", it's downright progressive, as if you might be hearing the future of rock.

The future of days passed.

Drum solo? Triplets?
Drum solo? Triplets?
Yes, but it’s not like Bonham was the first. All the jazz/big band greats had triplets in their soloing arsenal. In fact, rock drummers wanting to nail down Bonham first need to study Krupa, Morello, Rich, Blakey and that era if they ever want to really “get it”. 😉. Heck, Check out Joe Morello’s drum solo on YouTube if you want to see things that preceded Bonham. 😎👍🏻

But to me, what sets Bonham apart from anything like that Bluesbreakers tune is pure sound. No one in the biz ever tuned a kit as impeccably as Bonham. That kit in that YouTube vid sounds like cheap toy drums in comparison….and that’s where any comparisons stop short for me.

Bonham took it to the next level for sure.
