This morning it was "Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay." Not a bad thing!

Remember The Dream Police by Cheap Trick?

The dream police
They live inside of my head
The dream police
They come to me in my bed

I just helped you get past your last earworm ;]]

1964. New York World's Fair. Any more comments and you will be infected by perhaps the Greatest Earworm of All Time and then try and blame me for it :)

There is almost always a song stuck in my head. Only bothers me when it just repeats and repeats and usually I can get rid of it by playing the whole song out loud and singing along with it all the way through. Then, I get a new one. Usually. My weirdness is lyrics. I learn lyrics VERY quickly and then they stay with me. I carry a massive amount of lyrics around with me. Played a song the other night I haven't heard since the 70's and I remembered EVERY WORD!! It's a Livingston Taylor (James' brother) done by Linda Ronstadt. I'll share it with you!!

What a great song!!!

I find as I get older, sometimes a totally forgotten, obscure song from my teens or even childhood pops into my head - like 'Orange Colored Sky' by Nat King Cole - I was 4 when this was out!. One tune that seems to be the most 'ear wormy' for me is the Spinners 'Could It Be I'm Falling In Love'. Not the worst song, but far from the best.

A couple of years ago I've seen a mountaineering movie, Touching The Void. Two men successfully climbed a difficult mountain in the Andes, but on descent one of them broke his leg and was finally left behind in a glacier crevasse by his friend, who believed he was dead. The injured fought his way back to basecamp, dehydrated and half insane wiht pain and exhaustion. I remember that one scene when he was lying on a rock, literally dying, and then the song a Boney M song kicked into his brain, in endless loops, full volume. The contrast of the movie showing this desperate man, and the happy cheesy song blasting out of the cinema speakers, was really impressive.

Man I just hope my inner DJ will play a bit more decent music when my last day has come ;)

I have a whole catalogue of John Prine songs in my head, music and lyrics. Of course, the music is pretty easy - 3 chords. He said "They always worked pretty good for me."

reudi, that's funny!! The dichotomy of near death and bouncy music!! And then you mentioned Boney M, who actually had a few hits during the disco era on this side of the pond!! And one came into my head, but it was by D.D. Sound called Burning Love. Now that's stuck in my head!!! Some pretty fun dancing in the video, though!!

Oh Lord, now I'm gnashing my teeth to this poppy little song...... save me!!! :p

I almost always have a song stuck in my head, including snippets from all the songs on an entire CD I have recently listened to. A friend told me I should listen to instrumentals but they get stuck, too. Like the percussion beginning to Cecelia. Or 2 Cellos doing Thunderstruck. All in all, I don't think having music in my head is a bad thing at all.
One just has to remember to protect one's children from the degenerative effects of rap.
I Got You Babe.
ohhhh! The french horn destroys what I could otherwise live with, in an earworm.
So I put on "The Beat Goes On"
😀

1-877-Kars4Kids will take over and destroy any earworm. Good luck getting rid of it. If I hear it coming on the radio I quickly shut it off...

I found the scene on Youtube, it really is pretty disturbing:

It may be time for some of you to see your dentist.

Ralph, are you suggesting our dental fillings might be picking up radio signals?
