It was 10 or more years ago since this guitar was discussed here. Since all pictures are gone and even the old discussions were lost during the forum transistion some years ago I thought it might be fun to show her again. And we have so many new members in the last 10 years...

Lets start with the headstock, and the "older" members might remember:

Did you notice the truss rod cover shape? No way one would mount that one upside down!
And those wonderful Gilbert Diaz designed diamond-shaped buttons on the engraved Kolb tuners. (see Hans book page 41)

The guitar in full beauty:

Previous discussions happend in August 2011, December 2011 and December 2012:

The story that Craig Brody, "The Guitar Broker", who was the seller, posted in the past was: (and again, I can't verify it as Hans' comments in above links are lost)

"1959 GUILD A-500/J.S.Award Special...
...this cool archtop was made by it's factory master luthiers for a Mr. Gino Tomaso, whom worked for Guild during this period from 1957 thru 1962, he was hired to clean the factory but loved guitar, with the help of many friends, they made this 1-off top line
Archtop for Mr.Tomaso, it's Chocolate Brown Sunburst finish is wonderful, it's solid carved Spruce top has perfect grain along w/a floating D'Armond pickup, it's gold tuners have the diamond shaped pearl buttons on an engraved base plate, the back, sides & neck are made fom gorgeous flamey maple, it's ebony fingerboard has the top line triangle inside a square of pearl, the grooviest thing about this is since Guild never let an employee copy their guitars exactly, this A-500 has the quiriest "Gumby" headstock design w/Mr.Tomaso's initials in pearloid along w/ an interesting ornate inlay (notice the matching shaped truss rod cover), equipped w/an unengraved harp tailpiece & base model lucite'gard also having his "GT" initials in. It is near mint & a 1 of a kind for the eclectic collector. Comes with it's original Brown hard Guild Case. "

Now appearently there was another guitar given to (?)/owned by (?) Gino Tomaso, at least Hans had previously pointed to a "Tomaso" link when Craig (idealassets) asked what the model name "FT-50" stand for. So here is that "FT-50", again posted/sold by Craig Brody, "The Guitar Broker". It would be a 1954 one, means from the first year the F-50 was made.

Maybe a few members remember what the outcome of both guitar discussions was. I just found both fascinating guitars.

Actually....
Those threads are recoverable, do to GAD's coding chops. At work, so I can't do anything about it.

To be fair, I can’t stand the stock. But I do love that ‘53 F50. Wowzer!
