In my case CMG emailed me a shipping label today saying box it up and send it...they'll check it out and either fix or give me another guitar, pretty good of them no...I asked if it would be the same model... no answer yet...
As long as it's still current production (it's still showing on their site) I would expect it to be. In past when a model was out of production an upgrade was actually offered.
Sounds like they're even picking up shipping
to them, too? Fender didn't do that. Getting it there was on
your dime. But it may because there's nobody reasonably local to you.
I'm sort of hoping they repair it the "right way" cuz I like the guitar & it's still mint...The young man I spoke with was very pleasant & I felt he really wanted to help me which is usually rare nowadays... It's all boxed up and ready to go in the morning for the long journey from Michigan to California...
If it's glued on with Titebond (which I suspect), it's no big deal getting the bridge off. As for lift being somewhat common on 12's, I don't recall Guilds having any greater frequency of actual lift than the 6-ers, but the majority of reports are about domestic builts.
Titebond may be a bigger reason for lifting than string tension. One reason hide glue is the best glue for guitars is that it has the least creep (stretch) resistance of all glues. It actually crystallizes when dry, but the aliphatic resin glues like Titebond don't. So they give more under all that tension.
First heard of GuIld USA using Titebond in New Hartford for neck setting. I was kind of surprised, because hide glue construction was another small detail that made Guilds just a little "better", to me. But Titebond gives the neck setter a bit more working time to get it "just right".
Still, it makes me nervous. Don't know what Oxnard is using.
