Despite being careful and being triple vaccinated, my wife and I have come down with Covid - confirmed with rapid antigen tests which have a very low rate of false positive results. Because we are vaccinated and are generally in good health, the situation is neither serious nor life-threatening. It is, however, not an experience I would wish on my worst enemy. The worst of it was one day of the most excruciating sinus pain I have ever experienced. This has been followed by sinus congestion, mild cough, chills, sweats (no fever), mild shortness of breath, and general fatigue all of which, while persistent, gets marginally better every day. I am on the mend. I have been spared the dreaded "brain fog."

We probably got it from my son, who, although he showed no symptoms at all, tested positive with a rapid antigen test my wife administered. My wife, who is younger than cradle-robber me, has had much milder symptoms. The geezer gets hit the hardest.

Stay safe!

Oh man! Glad you're weathering it without serious consequences. We're all vacc'ed and boosted here, but my son still caught it from friends. We were lucky enough to find out in time and avoid catching it.

Get better soon!

Wishing you a speedy recovery! A good friend of mine got it in January, spent most of February in the hospital, and is still recovering at home. He has very bad brain fog and I fear it will be "long Covid" for him. :-(

Heal fast!
Just got the call that the steel player in the band I was going to play with this weekend has Covid,
so that's a no-go.
It is still all around.

Yep it’s the quarantine that hurt the most for me, after the 2-3 day sickness part. 15 days in the bedroom, wife slid my food under the door. Cuckoo..Cuckoo. Get well soon!!

Yeah, it's very different for different people. We had it here before Christmas 2020. I got the full version and I was horribly sick for 3 weeks. Don was just recovering from Shingles (yikes) and was taking Acyclovir which is an antiviral so he got a whole different version. He just slept for 3 weeks. Then last year got both our vaccines and this past January got our booster shot.

Sorry you're sick, but at least being vaccinated will keep it under more control than not vaccinated, and it's doubtful you'll die from it. Although, you'll probably feel like death for a bit. Stay hydrated and take vitamin D3.... it boosts your immune system. Good for bone health as well. Hang in there, amigo!! (y)

Thank you to everyone for their kind wishes.

I have spent a lot of time lying on the couch under a blanket binge (re)watching The Last Kingdom, the first two season of which I have seen before so I could drift in and out. With third season, I started having to pay attention, which worked out well as I was feeling much better by this point. Nothing like a good hack and slash to take your mind off things.

Important domestic tasks get taken care of by whomever feels better at the moment. It's worked out 50/50ish since we seem to slump at different times of the day. Unimportant stuff slides for the moment.

Haven’t got it yet - fingers crossed. My wife just got home from getting her second booster, and I’m going in later today.

Hope your remaining recovery period is quick & everything gets back to normal soon.

Bummer! I wish you and your family a speedy recovery. I also got Covid in early January 2022 despite being Vaxed and boosted. I was lucky- it was like a bad cold for me. Feel better soon!

Yes, us too. We are still being pretty cautious, I am immunosuppressed so I don't want to see what happens if I get it.

Other than my bother who thinks he got it very early on before there was tests for it, no one in my family has gotten covid. I'd like to keep it that way. The sick part doesn't disturb me, but the long term breathing and covid brain things do.

Hope you're back to 100% soon. Knock on wood, I haven't had it yet. It's nothing to downplay for sure. The new Euro strains are here! I'm all vaxed and boosted, but it should be common knowledge by now that the vax only keeps you from a dire situation, not the spread. I'm afraid vaxed folks will be just as much the cause of future spikes. From letting their guard down completely to outright misinformation. Masks are still the only prevention.
