Tacoma Acoustic

I had a chance to play a Tacoma Acoustic mahogany body and spruce top, DM 10ec. The neck had very good action and the setup was near perfect. The tone and volume blew me away, especially for $750.00 with hard case. I have some nice guitars to compare it to. These guitars are made USA and in the same plant as guild. Anyone else own or play them? I was impressed to the point I am thinking about doing something.......you know what I mean. Are they really that good? The workmanship was perfect inside and out, really nice. Any thoughts for this cousin to the guild? 8)

I visited My Luthier friend (RJ) yesterday, and He showed Me the truss rod from a Tacoma Guitar. The guitar was a fairly new 6 stringer, with a venetian cutaway. Apparently, the owner over did the adjustment, and broke the truss rod. RJ described to Me, that He simply re-bored the channel, and built his own truss set-up, because of some difficulty replacing or accessing the factory truss rod.

Other than that problem, He said the guitar was nicely built. I wonder if Tacoma uses the same set-up on the Guilds they build? Maybe Don knows.

Sorry I missed this Doc. Yep, follow Jeff's link to the UTGF. Fine group & several cross overs between forums. I have limited experience with Tacoma guitars. Played a few when GC used to stock them & it raised my hopes for the Guild line when I found out these same people would be building them.
