Just got off the phone and have purchased a T-250:

He took my offer of $450, so even though it looks a little shopworn, I think it's a pretty good price. 2009 Vintage Guitar Price Guide has the range from $600 -800. I'm not really versed in solid body prices, so I'm going on instinct. With shipping it's just about where MF sells MIM Teles, although there's no case. It's the first solid body I've had in at least 35 years, so it will be like a new adventure for me.

Man in terms of condition it looks like the gold is a bit faded and the neck could use a good cleaning. $450 sounds like a sweet price. Nice snag.

Yeah, I noticed the faded gold, the neck should be easy to clean up, and I doubt either will affect its playing. I'm a little more worried about possible noisy pots and switches, but they can usually be cleaned up. Plus, if it's really been played enough to wear like that, the pots have probably not had time to get too dirty. I will need to get a case or gig bag, though. I've got a few cases around, but all for acoustics.

Great price, and it's not shop worn, it's "Road Worn"... Fender charges extra for that.

Looks like you made a great buy. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong that can't be cleaned up, except for a little wear on the hardware.

You're right, that's the word I was looking for, maybe played in would be another way of putting it.

It arrived today. The plating doesn't seem as worn in person as it did in the pictures, There's a little rubbery feeling grit on the body, but I think it may have come from the gig bag it was in when shipped. I tuned it up, and the intonation is fine, haven't run it through an amp yet. I'll have to figure what strings to use. It has a set with an unwound 'g', something I don't think I even used on my Telecaster, but might be fun to get used to for bending and such. The battery cover is missing its screws, but the velcro seems to hold it on okay, and I might have some around, although not in gold. It looks like it might be a match for my 80s Peavey bandit 75 rather than my Ampeg Reverberocket repro tube amp and especially not for the Strawberry blonde acoustic amp.
I will at the very least run it through my practice amp later and report on its sound with the funky old corroded strings it came with. Oh, any suggestons on strings for it?

hmmm, new ones?

seriously, if it has the emg's put in a new battery, give it a cleaning and a proper setup, put on 10-46 nickelsl and plug it into the reverbrocked using the middle position, volume 2/3 ,tone 4/5. and then tell me you don't like it. :D

I don't have to, even through my little practice amp with old strings it sounds pretty good. I put a micrometer on the 'e' string and it's a .010, so 10 to 46 sounds about right, although I may try 9s and even 8s, if only for a mirror image to my AA and F-50o with 14s :D
I'll probably bring it by one of my local indies tomorrow after work and see what he has to say. As is, I'm impressed with the guitar, I only wish I could get a bridge cover for it.

The problem I have with .09s is tuning down a bit usually leads to very loose strings. I like .10s for versatility, but use .09s on the ones I just leave in standard tuning.

I've seen your fingers Brad, don't go less then 10's!
Yeah, probably go with tens, although as somebody pointed out on a different forum, Billy Gibbons uses 8's! Have to see if I can get a look at his fingers and see how they compare to mine. :)
