Hey all,I'm new here.I have a couple of Guilds, and I just bought a Blue Surfliner.I think it's really a cool take on offsets. And I don't need any more Bigsbys.I love the hardtail and everything. But,is this forum always so down on things like on this post?If so,I'm in the wrong place. Please say no.

There can certainly be vocal parts of this forum that are down on non-US instruments.

Please know that there are lots of us here who own, play and love Guild guitars made outside the US. It often seems we are the minority here, or at least are less vocal, but we exist and are happy with our instruments.

I hope that the opinions of others doesn't take away from your ability to enjoy your new Surfliner. You get to make your own decisions about what you want and what makes you happy, and I'd guess there are going to be lots of people happy with these guitars.

Personally, I think the 3 rockers are genius, for obvious reasons.

I'm recently playing a guitar that has individual on/off for each pickup of the three p'ups and I love it. Endless mix/match and blend possibilities.

Three alide switches work better IMO than these rockers do, but not by much. I’ll cover more in the review. :)

Ted,
Welcome!

Try not to be put off. We all love Guilds and realize that the more diverse the offerings, at all price points, the more the Guild name will get spread. Many of us are lovers of past models, so bear with us as we come to grips with the new offerings. Yes, we may grumble every now and then, but it’s an affectionate grumble. BECAUSE we love Guilds, we want them to be as good as they can be.

A sincere +1 to those sentiments.

I look forward to that. With no direct experience with this instrument I imagine it would be easier for me to look at a 0,1 rocker and tell whether a PU was on or off than to look at a slide and have to remember whether on was "closer" or "farther" from me before I knew what the PU status was. When the white paint or whatever has worn off an unmarked rocker or a slide switch will both require another cognitive step. Since these instruments seem to encourage modifications maybe nail polish marking either type of switch eliminates the cognitive difference and the switch and rocker can be compared on electrical properties, noise and "response time".

Took real pics of it today, which will make it the last guitar photographed in the old house since I’m dismantling all the equipment tomorrow. That one was a phone pic in the new house. You can tell it’s the new house because there’s a white carpet that hasn’t been ruined by dogs. :)

Wonder what it looks like after having gone through the poochy. Does it get better and more expensive like coffee beans?
