I love 'em, a real quirky 60's Tiesco-Kawai-Norma type vibe. In 1966, might have traded my new little sister for one!

And there is no doubt that they play better out of the box than the Auditions or Bradfords or Howards did from back then.

Wonder how one would sound with flatwounds though my Tremolux ;)

But yeah..."Surfliner" with no tremolo...where's the "Guildsby?"

There are G & L's made in Indonesia, right? So that shouldn't be a kiss-of-death (except maybe for the odd voodoo :))

I'll call my guy at Cordoba and see if I can get any information. I just hope that "my guy" isn't the same one as GAD's "guy."
It would arguably be worse if two “guys” suffered the same fate. Let’s hope that’s not the case.

This is my first time seeing this thread and that guitar. Price point is great. I am especially happy to see the LB1 in the bridge position with a SC neck and middle position. For a while I have felt that would be a good combination and contemplated modding a S70 that I had already modified with a Guildsby, A/B alternate pickup wiring setup and middle pickup volume attenuator.

I like what looks like a maple neck with the Jetstar reverse Firebird headstock.
Not sure about the thru strings as I like vibrato's but I'll try it. Not crazy about the rocker switch and I would not have gave it a fenderish body. A symmetric horn Aviator body would have been more Guildish. However, I like new and old styles so I will buy one once they become available.

I'm glad you mentioned that because I think the HSS using a LB1 is a neat combination that we haven't seen before. I'll buy one too at that price point. As for the switches, I think it will all come down to how stiff they are so they don't get knocked by accident.

That TRC looks like it was based on some of the late '80's models. I don't recall which at the moment but it is definitely a Guild throwback item.

One interesting feature is the excellent high fret neck action on this model. That is not a feature most Guilds offer.
Sill...those toggle switches are a take away from what could have be a Guild tribute to the late 80's models.
Another interesting feature is all the the pickup combinations. I wonder if one of volume or tone switch works in combination with the toggle switches.
Yes... I think the toggle switch should be replaced with a TBird switch plate. I would inquire into buying one of them for a mod.

Not according what that shop in Poland posted:
- 7 sound options (H / HS / S / SS / S / HSS / H-S) thanks to 3 independent switches
- 2 potentiometers - volume and tone

While not the switches that they used, seemingly off-the-shelf power switches, look back to the Japanese
electric guitars of the 60's and you will see rocker switches in worse positions on the low E side of the guitar
body...I am thinking (Woolworth's) Audition, Kent and probably others. It was a "style," and I think this new guitar
captures it.

Interesting. I’m guessing this is an aptly designed demographic thing because when I asked my 22 year old what she thought of them she replied:

Kind of like the original iMacs. One way to attract attention to a new product is to offer it in people's favorite colors.

Another is "not the same old thing", which is why I think my daughter likes these guitars.

I can tell you that when the first iMacs came out (1998), it was the first time my wife said she was interested in a computer.

Another thing for thought. "Surfliner" is actually a registered mark of the National Railroad Passenger Corporation, so I wonder if CMG got the permission using this name for the Guild Surfliner...

EDIT: June 22: From the press releases it sounds like they got permission.
