I recently found a couple of string sets I put together about 12 years ago when I had a guitar shop that would let me swap out strings between his sets & singles inventory. I put one on and am really liking it, but there isn't anyone around me locally who even carries a 12 string medium set . . . so, off to the evil internet. I have purchased some stuff from JustStrings.com, but buying all those singles isn't cheap and is a PITA the way they are set up.

Does anyone have a better suggestion?

I keep a dealer's inventory of singles and make my own sets. It's a big investment to get started but bulk buying can keep the unit price reasonable.

I seem to recall some internet outfit or another which would make any custom set you order in quantities of ten or more. Sorry I can't remember where I saw this but if you surf around and try some personal contacts you may find something.

BTW, there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.

These folks will let you put together your own custom sets, but you have to buy at least 6 sets at a time.
I buy 12 sets at a time in PB mediums and like them as much as D'Addario's.

They are shipped in bulk, meaning that all the bass E strings are in one set, etc.

I put them into full sets and zip tie the sets together and then place all the strings in a capped PVC tube.
