Hello guys I just bought a 214. It has the elixir pb 0.10, which sounds pretty good but i have to setup, etc, so need to change both. Elixir are so expensive here so I wanna know if here someone have the 214 with another brand like daddario or earthwood/ernieball. I need something a little bit more mellow/warm due to the brightness of the instrument (ebony, laminated, sitka). I was thinking to put something like that with 0.11. Any experience with this model or at least this shape and no elixir strings? Thanks

D'Addario EJ16s will do quite nicely on that wood combo.

sweetwater has them too at same price with free shipping, but then you have to deal with all their marketing barrage.
so Strings By Mail is worth the $3.95 shipping for their no marketing approach at all.

It sounds like paulyy is not in the US, so he would need to buy from a local dealer.
If 12-53 is too heavy for you, try the EJ26 set which is 11-52 only:

In Europe Thomann usually is a good general source but obviously every country has local music stores and I would prefer those.

A set of 3 is pretty good in price. In the upper right corner you can set your country.

Compared the Elixier 11-52 strings are 16,10 EUR for one set.

Actually the Taylor spec for this guitar is not 0.010-0.047 strings (Extra Light) but 0.012-to 0.053 strings (Light)!

Lots of good advice here.

I also recommend the Unofficial Taylor Guitar Forum (I'm a member there, also)

good call....those guys would totally know what strings sound best on taylors.
i know for every taylor i have owned in my past, i would take the elixirs off right away and put on EJ16s, helps tone down the overall brightness.

D'Addario EJ19's medium/light hybrid.
Well yes, great strings for sure, but he said he has only 10s (!) on it now and was looking for something like 11s. With the EJ19 you go the opposite direction and I'm not sure he wants to handle 12-56s.
